The Organisation

HOPES Inc. (Housing Options Providing Extra Support) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to offering supported, independent living options for individuals with acquired brain injuries (ABI) and/or neurological disabilities. Since its incorporation in 1997, HOPES has focused on creating suitable and supportive accommodation for younger Tasmanians (up to 65 years of age) living with ABI and neurological conditions.

In 2010, HOPES established Laetare Court at Hopkins Street, Moonah, a community designed to promote independence. The facility consists of 13 independent living units and a community house, providing individuals living with ABI the prospect to live as independently as possible while offering a space they can truly call "their own."

The position

VACANCY - BOARD DIRECTOR POSITIONS

is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and committed individuals to join our skills-based volunteer Board as Directors

We are particularly seeking people who bring skills, knowledge, and experience in:

- Human Resources, governance and compliance;

- Risk management;

- Tenancy management;

- Legal and regulatory environments;

- NDIS framework and the disability sector

The Board plays an important role in advancing the purpose of the organisation by applying contemporary standards of governance and strategic leadership, including compliance, risk, and financial oversight.

Attendance at Meetings

Board meetings are held monthly, generally on the third Thursday of the month, at 6:00 pm. Attendance is usually in person at the HOPES Community House in Moonah. Between meetings, interaction occurs through various sub-committees, MS Teams, phone, and email.

The various sub-committees meet at times convenient to the sub-committee members.
