Operations Manager – Warehouse & Distribution
Sunrise Hardware & Garden Products
Direk, Adelaide SA
Full-Time | Permanent
Sunrise Hardware & Garden Products is a well-established Australian import and wholesale business, proudly operating since 1983. As a major distributor of hardware, building supplies and garden products, we are looking for a reliable, capable and people-focused Operations Manager to join our busy team at our Direk warehouse.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys being on the floor, working alongside their team and making sure the operation runs safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Working closely with our Warehouse Manager, you will play an important role in leading our warehouse and distribution operations, keeping product moving efficiently from receiving through to dispatch and ultimately to our customers.
About the Opportunity
As Operations Manager, you will be actively involved in the day-to-day running of the warehouse while providing strong leadership, direction and support to the team.
You will work closely with the Warehouse Manager and collaborate with our Purchasing, Sales and Transport teams to ensure products are received, stored, picked and dispatched on time, in full, in good condition and at the right cost.
This is an opportunity for an experienced leader who is ready to take ownership, solve problems, develop people and contribute to the broader success of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the daily management of warehouse and distribution operations to ensure timely, efficient and cost-effective order fulfilment.
- Lead, coach and support the warehousing team alongside the Warehouse Manager, creating a positive, accountable and productive workplace culture.
- Drive warehouse and distribution processes across receiving, inbound inspections, stock handling, storage, picking, packing and dispatch.
- Coordinate effectively with freight providers and customers to ensure orders are dispatched and delivered efficiently.
- Maintain a strong focus on workplace health and safety, ensuring employees follow company policies,
procedures and safe work practices.
- Take a hands‑on approach to daily warehouse operations, stepping in where required to support the team and keep operations moving.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through effective stock management, cycle counting and investigation of stock discrepancies.
- Identify, manage and implement warehouse systems and process improvements, including reviewing warehouse layouts and bin locations, implementing barcode scanning and improving ERP, inventory and freight system processes to increase efficiency, accuracy and productivity.
- Monitor operational standards and ensure agreed processes and expectations are consistently followed.
- Support a workplace culture built around teamwork, accountability, respect and continuous improvement.
The Person We’re Looking For
Calm, capable and a confident communicator.
We are looking for a strong people leader who knows how to bring out the best in a team.
You lead by example. You are visible, engaged and prepared to get involved rather than simply manage from behind a desk. You build respect through fairness, consistency and clear expectations, and you understand that people perform at their best when they know what is expected of them and feel supported to achieve it.
You will be comfortable working in a busy warehouse workplace, making decisions under pressure and taking ownership when things don't go to plan.
You set high standards, hold people accountable and have the confidence to address issues when required. At the same time, you understand the importance of recognising good performance, developing your people and building a team that takes pride in what they do.
This role will suit someone who can balance structure with people leadership,
someone who is organised and disciplined, but approachable and willing to listen.
You will also be someone who takes pride in their work, values a positive workplace culture and understands that strong performance and a healthy balance outside of work can go hand in hand.
As Operations Manager, you will become an important part of our management team, contributing to the broader success of Sunrise Hardware & Garden Products and helping us continue to improve the way we operate and grow.
Skills & Experience

- A proactive, can‑do attitude with strong attention to detail.
- A sound understanding of warehouse safety, workplace procedures and Chain of Responsibility requirements.
