Reporting to the Unit Manager Business Development and Partnerships, this exciting role, within the Economic Development department at the City of Whittlesea, will deliver retail and night-time economy initiatives linked to Council’s Community Plan and Economic Growth Strategy.
The fixed term role is critical to understand the issues and opportunities facing the retail sector and identify, develop and implement programs and initiatives to support sustainable growth of the night-time economy in the City of Whittlesea.
The role will deliver a high level of customer service to our retail business community while meeting department KPI’s.
The role is part time, supporting flexible working arrangements, based at Council’s Civic Centre in South Morang and will work closely with traders requiring site visits to retail precincts. The role will also work closely with the other Business and Retail Officer to grow existing connections and develop new relationships within the sector.
Let’s talk about you
We are looking for an individual who is passionate and has experience providing high level support and guidance to businesses, peak bodies and government stakeholders within the retail sector.
You have a Tertiary qualification in economic development, business, retail management and/or marketing, or a related field or lesser formal qualification with a minimum of three years’ experience in the sector.
The role will be responsible for developing and delivering initiatives that support the retail sector and complement other initiatives within the Economic Development department.
You will have demonstrated experience working collaboratively across a wide range of stakeholders (internal and external) and a proven track record in successfully presenting, developing, and implementing engagement programs.
