Carer Required

We are the parents of a 37yo man with severe autism (Level 3).

David is likeable, mostly happy and physically healthy and very active. At the same time, he has high-level support needs since he is unable to speak, has little understanding of safety and needs 1:1 support during his waking hours.

David enjoys music, walks, swimming, looking at books and being with his family. He benefits from a calm approach, clear communication, patience, and a predictable routine. The successful carer will help David feel secure, respected, and included.

David’s carer will be reliable, kind, trustworthy, and have had experience supporting a person with a severe mental disability. The person will also be comfortable assisting David with dressing and grooming, giving him medication, accompanying him to family events,



assisting with meal preparation, community activities, providing companionship and, as needed, coping with his infrequent seizures. This person will also need to communicate with David’s family and report changes in his behaviour.

A police clearance, first aid knowledge, references, relevant training and a driver’s licence will be required. Pay will depend on experience.
