We’re seeking a reliable and capable Disability Support Worker to join our team, supporting children and young adults living on the Capricorn Coast. At a client’s request, we are currently considering women only for this role.
We’re a small, family-operated provider and, while we’re growing, we want to stay small, local and personal. Genuine relationships and finding the right fit for our clients and their families are really important to us.
We’re currently working towards our NDIS registration, with the goal of making high intensity support and complex behavioural support a particular focus of our service.
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to grow with us. As we work towards registration and expand the supports we provide, there will be opportunities to build your skills and undertake further training.
It also means we need someone who is adaptable. Our clients’ needs change, our services are growing, and your role may evolve over time. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable learning new things, adjusting their approach and being part of that growth.
About the role
You’ll be supporting children and young adults with a range of needs. Depending on the client and shift, this may include:
- Personal care
- High intensity and complex care
- Manual handling, transfers and mobility support
- Community access and activities
- Daily living support, including domestic assistance
- Supporting clients with behaviours of concern
You’ll need to be comfortable with hands-on personal care and be reasonably fit and physically capable of manual handling. You’ll also need to be calm under pressure, able to follow support plans and procedures, and understand that some days can be more challenging than others.
Training and introductory shifts will commence in October, with regular shifts starting in November. Required training will be provided.
Our current regular roster needs from November are:
Weekdays
Monday 6:00am – 8:45am & 2:00pm – 6:00pm
Tuesday 2:15pm – 6:00pm
Thursday 6:00am – 8:45am & 2:15pm – 6:00pm
Friday 4:00pm – 6:00pm
Fortnightly weekends
Saturday: 4:00pm – 6:00pm
Sunday: 6:00am – 1:00pm & 4:00pm – 6:00pm
These are the hours we currently need covered and may change over time as our clients’ needs change.
We understand that people need holidays, get sick and have things come up. We’re simply looking for someone whose usual availability lines up well with these hours and who can provide good consistency for our clients and team.
Extra shifts are frequently available, particularly during school holidays.
Who we’re looking for

- Compassionate, adaptable, flexible and reliable
- Comfortable providing personal care and complex support
- Comfortable supporting people who may sometimes display challenging behaviours
- Calm, patient and able to think clearly in challenging situations
- Able to work autonomously while being part of a small team
- Able to follow support plans, procedures and training
- A positive communicator who can write clear, accurate shift notes and reports
- Keen to learn and develop their skills
Someone who has or is willing to obtain the following:
- NDIS Worker Screening and Blue/WWCC cards

- Current driver licence and a reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle
- Certificates of completion of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission Worker Orientation Module and New Worker NDIS Induction Modules: https://www.ndiscommission.gov.au/workforce/online-training-modules
Previous experience in disability, youth, health, aged care or complex care is highly regarded, but not essential. We’re more than happy to invest in the training and development of someone we believe is the right fit for our clients and our team. Pay & conditions
We offer an attractive above-Award casual weekday base rate under the SCHADS Award, plus applicable penalty rates and allowances.
Required training is paid, and we’re happy to invest in further training and development as your role and our services grow.
Every shift also includes an additional 15 minutes of paid admin time for shift notes, incident reports and other required documentation.
Some of our shifts require the support worker to start in Rockhampton before travelling to the Capricorn Coast with the client. Where this applies, an additional 30 minutes of paid travel time is included. Applicants therefore need to be comfortable travelling between Rockhampton and the Capricorn Coast when required.

Email me at
[email protected] with a quick introduction, including a little about how you meet the requirements above, along with your resume and at least two references.
Please also let me know how your regular availability lines up with the current roster.
We’re looking for someone who wants to grow their skills alongside us and become part of a team taking on more complex support needs, while still providing the personal, consistent care of a small local provider.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
