Event & Catering Manager – BlackBear BBQ

BlackBear BBQ is looking for an experienced Event & Catering Manager to join our growing team.

We are looking for someone with proven experience in both event management and hospitality who can take ownership of growing and managing our catering and events business.

The role will initially be 3–4 days per week, with the potential for additional hours and in-store management responsibilities for the right person.

About the role

This is a hands-on position focused on finding current opportunities, securing catering and event bookings, and ensuring events run smoothly from enquiry through to completion.

Key responsibilities include

- Actively reaching out to and responding to businesses, venues, event organisers and potential clients
- Managing catering enquiries, quotes, bookings and customer communication
- Coordinating events from initial planning through to event day
- Building and maintaining relationships with clients, venues and event organisers
- Growing our October - December catering and events calendar
- Researching festivals, markets, corporate events, private functions and other catering opportunities
- Coordinating staffing, equipment, food and logistics for off-site events
- Work closely with the kitchen and management team to ensure events run smoothly and stock is ordered
- Assisting with in-store management and staff coordination when required
- Identifying new ways to increase catering and event bookings

About you





You must have previous experience in both hospitality and event management.

We are looking for someone who:

- Has proven hospitality experience
- Has previous experience managing or coordinating events
- Understands the fast-paced nature of the hospitality industry
- Is highly organised and able to manage multiple events and deadlines
- Is confident communicating with clients, businesses and event organisers
- Is proactive and comfortable finding and pursuing new business opportunities
- Can work independently and take initiative
- Has excellent attention to detail
- Is confident problem-solving and managing unexpected situations
- Has strong customer service and communication skills
- Is willing to get hands-on and be involved in the practical side of events

Event and hospitality management experience is essential. Sales, catering coordination or business development experience will be highly regarded.
