Role Responsibilities

This role is about more than preparing food — it’s about nutrition, dignity, choice and quality of life for the people we care for.

As the Catering Assistant, you’ll be responsible for providing time effective catering services to our residents to meet dietary needs and provide a person-centred approach to catering. In this role, you will:

- Collaborate with our team of chefs with daily meal preparation to meet residents’ individual dietary needs, including texture-modified meals and special diets.
- Support a “Fortified Food First” approach to help maximise residents’ nutritional intake.
- Complete general kitchen duties including cleaning, washing dishes and maintaining a hygienic food preparation environment.
- Maintain best practices in health, hygiene, sustainability,



and safety within the kitchen and service.
- Communicate with the residents about their dietary needs, keeping them informed and involved.
- Drive the Uniting catering van to pick up and drop off key food deliveries when required.

What you’ll bring

- Experience in commercial, aged care, hospital or similar food service environments
- A genuine interest in providing quality food to older people
- Understand the importance of nutrition and hydration in aged care A Willingness to learn and support food-first and fortified food strategies
- Valid, current Australian drivers license whilst being comfortable driving a medium sized company van when required.
- Certificate III in Hospitality or an equivalent qualification (highly desirable)
- Food Safety Certificate (Highly Desirable)
- Knowledge of safe food handling practices and a passion for preparing quality, nutritious meals.
- You’re empathetic, adaptable, and resourceful, with a commitment to delivering excellent service.
