Key Responsibilities:
- In conjunction with the Maintenance Supervisor lead the safety culture amongst the Maintenance Crew, and the wider team including:
- Ensuring that all safe working practices (SWMS etc.) are adhered to on site and promoting a safe working environment where the Civil Service Crew can openly raise concerns.
- Encouraging the Civil Service Crew to raise hazards, control measures etc. for the days work activities are raised at the Pre-Start meeting.
- Ensuring that on site hazards for a work activity are identified, discussed amongst the workers, risk assessed and corrective actions put in place (Take 5).
- Promoting any work activity where there is a concern with safety is not undertaken and the matter is review and escalated as necessary.
- Ensuring that all incidents and hazards are reported and that any concerns raised are promptly escalated and feedback sought.
- Comply with all safety, quality and environmental responsibilities as outlined in the policies and management systems to ensure compliance.
- Provide field leadership for civil work activities.
- Assist in the management of site security and material/plant deliveries, storage and general housekeeping.
- Ensure all plant and equipment is pre-started correctly and is in good working condition and kept clean, safe and operational.
- Assistance in the maintenance of fleet,
including maintenance and incident response vehicles. Promptly report and defects or safety concerns for action.
- Provide input on operational and maintenance procedures as required, including proactively identify any improvements that can be made to working practices.
- Liaise with Emergency Services and local authorities as required when dealing with incidents or defects.
- Carry out routine and periodic maintenance and defect rectification on civil assets as directed.
- Assist the Maintenance Supervisor with meeting KPIs and contract performance targets.
- Provide traffic management support to incidents and other work activities as required including being certificated in traffic management.
- Assist in after hour call out/emergency activities as directed including being part of an on‑call roster for incident response.
- Work with the NIOC Operators to provide incident and emergency response service, as required, in accordance with the contract requirements.
- Provide a professional level of customer service to the client and the community in regard to daily maintenance operations and incident response.
- Assist in the recording of maintenance data in the Asset Management System through the field‑based computers (iPad).
About You:
- Proven experience in roads maintenance field and supervision of field resources.
- Competencies in plant and equipment used on a civil maintenance contract including small plant.
- Heavy vehicle license.
- Construction induction training (white card) accepted in Victoria.
- Senior First Aid Certificate,
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in civil maintenance and traffic management (desirable)
- Knowledge of asset management (desirable)
- Current heavy vehicle driver license (desirable)
- Traffic controllers’ qualifications (desirable)
