Centre Director – Sunflower Academy Early Learning Centre

$55 per hour + Performance Bonuses

Sunflower Academy Early Learning Centre is an exciting new early childhood service opening in the Sydney CBD in December 2026.

We are looking for an experienced, passionate and highly capable Centre Director to lead our team and help shape Sunflower Academy from the very beginning.

With the philosophy “Where Every Child Shines,” our vision is to create a nurturing, inclusive and high-quality learning environment where children feel safe, supported and inspired to grow. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Director to join a brand-new centre and have genuine input into its culture, systems, team and day-to-day operations.

About the Role

As Centre Director, you will take overall responsibility for the leadership and operation of the service, working closely with management to establish a high-performing, welcoming and compliant centre.

Your responsibilities will include:

Leading, mentoring and supporting a team of educators and room leaders

Creating a positive, professional and collaborative workplace culture

Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the centre

Maintaining high standards of education, care, safety and compliance

Supporting the service to meet and exceed the National Quality Standards

Managing staffing, rosters, ratios and educator performance





Building strong and trusting relationships with children and families

Supporting enrolments, centre tours and family engagement

Working with the Educational Leader to support high-quality curriculum and practice

Maintaining accurate service documentation, records and regulatory requirements

Leading the centre through assessment and rating and continuous quality improvement

Supporting recruitment, onboarding and professional development of educators

Working closely with management on the continued growth and success of Sunflower Academy

About You

We are looking for someone who is confident, organised and genuinely passionate about early childhood education.

The ideal candidate will have:

Previous experience as a Centre Director, Centre Manager, Assistant Director or senior leader within an early childhood service

A strong understanding of the National Quality Framework, National Quality Standards and Education and Care Services National Regulations

Excellent leadership and people-management skills

Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with families and educators

A proactive and solutions-focused approach

Strong organisational and administrative skills





A commitment to creating a high-quality and inclusive early learning setting

The confidence to take ownership of the centre while working collaboratively with management

Relevant early childhood qualifications and required clearances

Experience opening a new centre or participating in an Assessment and Rating process will be highly regarded.
