Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Chefs role based at Melbourne Airport, VIC. Chefs will prepare, cook, and present a variety of menu items to consistent quality standards, following established recipes and food safety procedures. Daily tasks include organizing the kitchen workstation, managing stock and mise en place, and coordinating with colleagues to ensure timely service for airline and ground-based catering.
Chefs will maintain cleanliness and hygiene in all food preparation areas, adhere to safety regulations, and assist with menu improvement and special dietary requirements.
The role involves working closely with the broader team to meet service schedules and support an efficient, collaborative kitchen environment.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and plating, with attention to quality and consistency.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and safe kitchen operations, including temperature control and allergen awareness.
- Experience working in a fast-paced commercial kitchen or catering setting, ideally in airline or large-scale food service.
- Ability to work effectively in a team, communicate clearly, and follow standard operating procedures and recipes.
- Good organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple orders and tight service schedules.
- Relevant culinary qualifications or trade certificates, and demonstrated experience as a Chef or Cook.
- Willingness to work shift patterns, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
- Commitment to safety, reliability, and professional conduct within an airport and catering environment.
- Filipino cuisine knowledge preferred
