About the role

Whether you measure by the numbers, the team or the pace of growth, there is little doubt that this is a Sector-leading Chief Financial Officer role. As a member of the Wyndham Senior Leadership Team, the CFO plays a critical role in shaping Council's future by providing strategic financial leadership, driving organisational performance and ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of the organisation. This role demands the skills and experience suited to the delivery of Wyndham's strategic vision Wyndham's strategic vision and fostering a culture of accountability, innovation and service excellence that supports positive outcomes for our community.

Reporting to the Director Corporate Services, the CFO leads Council's Financial Services function and provides strategic oversight across Long-Term Financial Planning and Analytics, Accounting and Reporting, Finance Operations, Rates and Debtor Management for circa 135,000 properties in our city and Procurement. Through this diverse portfolio, you will influence key financial decisions across an $8Bn Asset Portfolio, strengthen organisational capability and ensure strong financial governance for almost $1Bn in Revenue, championing long-term sustainability right across our organisation.

With responsibility for a team of approximately 55 employees, you will foster a high-performing and customer-focused culture, strengthening organisational capability and driving continuous improvement across the Financial Services function. A key focus of the role will be developing Wyndham's Financial Sustainability Strategy aligned to Wyndham 2050 and delivering Council's Back to Black program, ensuring Council remains financially sustainable while continuing to invest in the infrastructure, services and facilities required by our growing community.

Our ideal candidate will be a highly qualified finance qualified with substantial experience in senior financial management, strategic planning and organisational leadership within a complex environment. You will bring strong commercial and analytical capability, exceptional stakeholder engagement skills and a demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams. With a track record of delivering innovative solutions, driving organisational performance and building trusted relationships, you will be well positioned to support Wyndham's continued growth and long-term financial sustainability.

What your day will look like





- Providing strategic financial leadership and advice to Councillors, the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and Wyndham Senior Leadership Team.
- Leading Council's long-term financial planning, budgeting, financial reporting and sustainability initiatives.
- Providing strategic oversight of financial governance, business partnering and organisational decision-making across Council.
- Leading and developing a high-performing Financial Services team that delivers exceptional services and supports informed decision-making across Council.
- Building strong relationships with government agencies, financial institutions, service providers, industry bodies and other key stakeholders.

What you will bring

- Tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications in Commerce, Business or a related discipline together with membership of a recognised accounting body such as CPA or CA.
- Significant experience in senior financial management, financial control and strategic planning within a large and complex organisation.
- Demonstrated success leading high-performing teams and delivering organisational transformation, service improvement and positive cultural change.
- Strong financial, commercial and strategic acumen, with experience developing long-term financial strategies and delivering sustainable outcomes.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, including the ability to provide a trusted voice for elected representatives, executive leaders and external partners.
