Bungree Aboriginal Association provides much-needed transport assistance to members of the community across the Central Coast.
Our transport service supports older people and community members who have limited or no access to private or public transport due to their location, financial circumstances, or physical and cognitive capacities.
We provide transport to a range of essential and important destinations, including medical appointments, shopping, community events, out-of-area appointments and personal appointments.
About the role
As the Community Transport Coordinator, you will play a key role in coordinating a timely, efficient, effective and safe transport service for the community.
You will be responsible for planning, coordinating and overseeing the day-to-day operations of Bungree's transport service, including coordinating drivers, vehicles, bookings and schedules.
This is a role that requires a high level of organisation, communication and initiative. You will work with a significant degree of independence and autonomy.
Key responsibilities
Transport Coordination & Scheduling
- Coordinate the day-to-day delivery of Bungree's community transport services.
- Plan and maintain driver rosters and transport schedules to maximise the effective utilisation of available vehicles and drivers.
- Coordinate client transport bookings using the RouteMatch system.
- Ensure drivers receive accurate run sheets, schedules and relevant information in a timely manner.
- Coordinate changes to bookings and schedules and respond to operational issues as they arise.
- Monitor the efficient use of vehicles and available transport resources.
- Communicate effectively with drivers and transport administration using CV radio, in accordance with Bungree procedures and Code of Conduct.
- Undertake driving duties as required to provide back-up support and maintain continuity of transport services.
Client & Community Support
- Coordinate transport services that respond to the individual needs of eligible clients.
- Maintain skilled, respectful and culturally appropriate communication with clients and their families.
- Respond to client enquiries and assist with resolving transport-related issues.
- Help identify opportunities to improve access to transport services.
- Contribute to increasing community awareness and knowledge of Bungree's transport services.
- Support opportunities to grow client numbers and build positive awareness of Bungree's transport program.
Records & Administration
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records relating to bookings, services, clients, volunteers, fees and transport activities.
- Ensure information is entered accurately into approved systems and databases.
- Maintain appropriate documentation in accordance with Bungree policies, procedures and contractual requirements.
- Monitor transport activity and assist with reporting and information required by management.
- Identify opportunities to improve administrative systems and processes.
About you We are looking for someone who is organised, proactive, community-minded and solutions-focused, with the ability to coordinate multiple moving parts while maintaining a strong focus on client needs and safety.
- Experience coordinating transport, rostering, scheduling or similar operational services.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- The ability to manage multiple bookings, schedules and competing priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with clients, drivers, staff and community organisations.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills.
- The ability to work independently,
exercise initiative and make sound decisions within your level of responsibility.
- Strong computer and administrative skills and the ability to learn and use relevant systems, including RouteMatch.
- The ability to remain calm and solutions-focused when responding to unexpected changes or operational challenges.
- A commitment to providing respectful, person-centred and culturally safe services.
Essential Requirements
- Confirmation of Aboriginality (Aboriginal Designated position under section 14 of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act 1977).
- Willing to work outside of normal business hours as required.
- Demonstrated experience in working with vulnerable and disadvantaged community members.
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated Computer skills.
- Flu Shot – Bungree is a mandatory FLU SHOT workplace (if for medical reasons you cannot get the flu shot please provide evidence).
- COVID-19 Vaccinations – (minimum 2 doses) Bungree is a mandatory COVID-19 SHOT workplace (if for medical reasons you cannot get the COVID shot please provide evidence).
- National Police Check (willing to obtain).
- Working with Children's Check (willing to obtain).
- Valid Driver's Licence.
