Bendigo Stadium Limited (BSL) manages and operates Red Energy Arena, Borough Club, St Arnaud Sporting Club and Swan Hill Indoor Sports and Recreation Centre. The Bendigo Stadium (Red Energy Arena) is the home of the Bendigo Braves (Senior and Junior elite Basketball teams), the Bendigo Spirit (Women’s National Basketball League team), the Bendigo Strikers (State Netball League) and the Phantoms Volleyball Club (State Volleyball League).

Our Stadium provides a state-of-the-art facility, including a 4000 seat show court arena, twelve (12) basketball courts, licensed bistro and café bar, and premier function spaces for all events. The venue hosts 15,000 patrons per week.

About the role The Competitions Supervisor position is a key role in delivering safe, professional and enjoyable basketball competitions at Red Energy Arena and other approved venues.

This is a hands-on game-day role responsible for ensuring competitions run smoothly, supporting referees, players, coaches and spectators, and responding confidently to operational, behavioural and safety issues as they arise. You will be a visible presence courtside, helping create an environment where everyone can enjoy basketball and feel safe and respected.

This is a casual position and respondent to the Registered & Licenced Clubs Award – Level 3 – Adult and Junior rates apply (Adult rate - $27.97/hour + 25% casual loading = $34.96/hour), plus relevant allowances (an additional $2.95/hour for hours worked between 7pm and midnight, Monday to Friday)



and Superannuation Contribution Guarantee (currently 12%).

What you will be doing

- Oversee the safe and smooth delivery of basketball competitions and game days.
- Support referees, players, coaches, officials and spectators, managing issues as they arise.
- Manage behavioural issues, conflicts and incidents, escalating serious matters appropriately.
- Ensure courts, equipment and competition areas are safe, prepared and ready for use.
- Support PlayHQ, scoring, timing and scoretable operations.
- Complete required incident reporting and compliance activities.
- Work with BSL staff and stakeholders to deliver a positive, secure and enjoyable basketball experience.

What we are looking for

- Qualifications: Current WWCC and First Aid/CPR; basketball or sports-related qualifications desirable.
- Experience: Experience in basketball, sporting competitions, venue operations, recreation or a similar customer-facing environment.
- Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Knowledge: Sound understanding of basketball competition operations, participant conduct, safety requirements and incident management.
- Systems: Confidence using digital systems, with experience in PlayHQ, scoring and timing desirable
- Personal attributes: Reliable, professional, approachable, fair and confident, with a genuine passion for basketball, sport and the community.
