The Construction Team in Australia is looking for Construction Project Manager based in Adelaide. Reporting to the Project Director for a major wind farm project in South Australia, the Construction Project Manager will play a key role in the successful delivery of this utility-scale renewable energy project from the final stages of development through construction, commissioning and handover.
Acting on behalf of the owner/developer, the Construction Project Manager will lead and contribute to the planning, execution and control of project activities ensuring that safety, quality, commercial, environmental and stakeholder objectives are achieved.
Working within and leading an experienced and collaborative delivery team, the Construction Project Manager will work closely with contractors, consultants, owners' engineer and internal subject matter experts to support the successful delivery of one of Australia's most significant renewable energy projects, involving utility-scale wind generation, major civil infrastructure, high-voltage electrical works and complex stakeholder interfaces.
Your Main Tasks Include
Project Delivery
- Lead the project team[JT2.1] and manage the delivery of power generation assets, including wind turbines, civil and electrical infrastructure
- Manage commissioning, testing, energisation, completion and handover to our asset management team
- Monitor, report and drive project performance against safety, program, cost, quality and technical objectives
- Establish and maintain project governance, registers, trackers, reporting tools and management systems
- Identify, assess and manage project risks and opportunities and support implementation of mitigation measures
- Drive problem-solving and implementation of lessons learned
Contractor and Consultant Management
- Manage day-to-day interfaces with contractors, consultants, owner’s engineer and other key stakeholders
- Monitor contractors’ and consultants’ performance against contractual obligations
- Assess and manage contract notices, variations, claims and contractual correspondence
- Coordinate negotiation and resolution of technical, commercial and delivery issues, support timely close-out to achieve best-for-project outcomes
- Identify and manage interfaces between contractors, consultants, network service provider and internal teams to support productive project delivery
- Coordinate the review of drawings, specifications and technical documentation
- Coordinate close-out of defects, punch lists and handover documentation
Health, Safety, Environment and Quality
- Promote and support a strong safety culture across all project activities
- Monitor compliance with project health, safety, environmental and quality requirements
- Coordinate and participate in site inspections, audits and leadership walk-downs
- Support incident investigations, lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives
- Monitor compliance with project approvals and support regulatory reporting
Stakeholder Management
- Manage internal and external stakeholders to support successful project outcomes
- Manage project commitments relating to landowners, communities and other stakeholders
- Participate in stakeholder and community engagement activities
Role This role is suited to a motivated professional engineer seeking to further develop their renewable energy expertise through involvement in the delivery of major infrastructure projects:
- Engineering Degree (Electrical preferred, Civil or Mechanical also considered)
- 5-10 years’ or equivalent experience in construction, infrastructure, renewable energy, power generation or related industries;
- Strong understanding of project delivery principles and construction management;
- Experience managing contractors, consultants, Owners’ Engineers, network service providers and project stakeholders;
- Understanding of contract administration, project risk management and project controls;
- Identify, monitor and manage project risks and opportunities and support implementation of mitigation measures;
- Strong organisational and coordination skills;
