Description
Cambridge University Mixed Lacrosse Club is a high-level lacrosse team, currently National Champions playing in the mixed lacrosse league. We are a friendly and motivated club, seeking a passionate and experienced coach to lead and develop the team. Sessions: 1 session per week (Thursday evening 4pm - 6pm), Sunday match subject to mutual availability and club needs Job Purpose: To provide high-quality coaching to students of varying ability, fostering skill development, fitness, and competitive performance in Lacrosse while ensuring a safe and inclusive training setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging and structured lacrosse training sessions for students of varying skill levels.
- Provide coaching for all levels, from beginners to competitive athletes.
- Develop individual and team performance strategies, including technical, tactical, and physical conditioning.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, including risk assessments and injury prevention measures.
- Prepare students for university competitions, fixtures, Varsity and other relevant events.
- Provide mentorship and motivation to students, fostering a positive and disciplined training culture.
- Maintain equipment and ensure proper usage during training sessions.
- Collaborate with university sports staff and club committee members to align training with club objectives.
- Uphold health and safety, safeguarding and inclusivity standards, ensuring a welcoming environment for all participants.
- Adherence to club policies and procedures.
- Stay up to date with coaching best practices and relevant qualifications.
Person Specification
Essential
- Recognised lacrosse coaching qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or higher).
- Experience coaching young adults or university-level athletes.
- Experience coaching lacrosse.
- Strong communication, motivational and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in sports coaching.
- Ability to plan and deliver progressive training programs.
- Commitment to inclusivity and student development.
- A valid first aid certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
- Enhanced DBS check.
Desirable
- Experience coaching competitive university teams.
- A track record of increasing participation and retention of members.
- Safeguarding certifications.
