About the role

Ainoya Japanese Restaurant is seeking a talented Cook or Chef to join our kitchen team on a part-time basis. Based in Kirribilli NSW, this role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic Japanese culinary environment where precision, creativity, and passion for authentic Japanese cuisine are highly valued. You will play a key role in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests, contributing directly to the reputation and success of our restaurant.

What you'll be doing

- Preparing and cooking high-quality Japanese dishes following established recipes and culinary standards
- Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of your assigned station and kitchen areas
- Working collaboratively with kitchen staff to ensure timely and consistent food preparation
- Managing food stocks and reporting any issues or shortages to senior kitchen staff
- Adhering strictly to food safety and hygiene regulations at all times
- Assisting with plating and presentation to ensure every dish meets our quality standards
- Supporting the head chef with special menu items and catering requests as needed
- Contributing creative ideas to enhance existing dishes or develop new menu offerings

What we're looking for

- Proven experience as a cook or chef, ideally with exposure to Japanese cuisine or Asian cooking techniques
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards, hygiene practices, and kitchen sanitation procedures
- Proficiency in knife skills and food preparation methods essential to Japanese cooking




- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service periods
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills with a collaborative attitude
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing consistently high-quality dishes
- Flexibility with scheduling and availability for part-time shifts
- A genuine passion for Japanese cuisine and continuous culinary improvement
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in food preparation or culinary arts (preferred)
