JOB TITLE: Credit Risk Accountant

Reports to: National Credit Manager

Job Purpose The Credit Risk Accountant is responsible for the end-to-end management of accounts receivable, credit management, revenue accounting, customer rebates, sales commissions, GST compliance, and revenue reporting.

Supporting a business with $400 million in annual revenue the role plays a critical part in ensuring revenue integrity, optimising cash flow, managing working capital, maintaining strong financial controls, and providing commercial insights to support business performance.

The role acts as a key finance business partner to Sales, Customer Service, Operations, and Commercial teams, balancing customer service, commercial outcomes, governance, and risk management.

Responsibilities

Revenue & Accounts Receivable Management

Manage the end-to-end Order-to-Cash and Accounts Receivable processes as assigned by NCM

Monitor and manage overdue accounts and take appropriate action to secure payment and work relevant departments to ensure prompt resolution of any outstanding disputes.

Resolve complex or escalated issues related to customer payments and account discrepancies.

To assist and manage the PPSR Registration and renewals for ANZ.

Ensure revenue transactions are accurately recorded in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.

Credit Risk Management

Assist NCM in developing, implementing, and review credit policies and procedures to mitigate risk.

Assess creditworthiness of new and existing customers by analysing financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant information.

Set credit limits and terms for customers in line with company policy and risk appetite.

Oversee the management of the online credit application dashboard to ensure prompt and efficient opening of new customer accounts.

Collections & Working Capital Management

Proactively manage collections to maximise cash flow and minimise overdue debt.





Monitor debtor ageing and customer payment performance.

Engage with customers to resolve outstanding invoices and payment disputes.

Develop collection strategies for high-risk and high-value accounts.

Monitor and report on Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), collection effectiveness and cash collections.

Contribute to achieving working capital and cash flow targets.

Sales Commission Management

Calculate and administer sales commission and incentive payments.

Validate performance data used in commission calculations.

Prepare monthly commission accruals and reconciliations.

Investigate and resolve commission discrepancies and queries.

Customer Rebates

Administer customer rebate.

Calculate, validate and process customer rebate claims in accordance with contractual agreements.

Review supporting documentation to ensure claim validity.

Maintain rebate accrual schedules and monthly reconciliations.

Monitor rebate liabilities and ensure accurate reporting.

Analyse rebate expenditure against budget and customer performance.

GST Compliance

Maintain GST-free customer classifications and supporting documentation.

Ensure customer tax settings are accurately maintained within ERP systems.

Conduct periodic compliance reviews of GST-free customer records.

Investigate and correct GST coding errors and exceptions.

Assist with ATO information requests or reviews as required.

Develop and maintain controls to minimise GST compliance risk.

Ensure ongoing compliance with Australian taxation legislation and company policies.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

Prepare weekly and monthly Accounts Receivable reporting.

Analyse and report on

Debtor ageing

Days Sales Outstanding (DSO)

Cash collections

Collection effectiveness

Bad debt exposure

Commission accruals

Working capital performance

Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations relating to Accounts Receivable, commissions and revenue-related accounts.

Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes.

Continuous Improvement





Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and operational efficiency.

Maintain and update the customer master data on a monthly basis, ensuring no deviations.

Support ERP enhancements and finance transformation initiatives.

Develop reporting automation and dashboard solutions.

Improve visibility of revenue, receivables, rebates and customer performance metrics.

Contribute to finance process improvement projects and best practice initiatives.

Skills & Experience

Essential Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related discipline.

CPA or CA qualified or progressing toward qualification.

Minimum 3-5 years' experience in Revenue Accounting, Accounts Receivable, Commercial Finance or Financial Analysis.

Robust understanding of Accounts Receivable, credit management and working capital principles.

Experience managing large customer portfolios.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Experience with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite or similar.

Strong analytical, reconciliation and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management capability.

Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

Desirable

Experience within wholesale distribution, food manufacturing, FMCG, manufacturing or business-to-business trading environments.

Experience within a chemical distribution, specialty chemicals, industrial products or ingredients business.

Experience supporting a business with annual revenue exceeding $100 million.

Experience managing customer rebate and commission programs.

Knowledge of GST legislation relating to food products and GST-free transactions.

Experience with Power BI, reporting automation and business intelligence tools.

Strong understanding of customer contracts.
