About the role
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Dental Technician to join our established dental practice in Melbourne.
Our practice has been operating for more than 20 years and has built its reputation around high-quality dentistry, attention to detail and excellent clinical outcomes. We are looking for a technician who shares these values and takes genuine pride in producing precise, high-quality dental work.
The position offers the opportunity to work within a clinical dental environment alongside experienced dentists and the wider dental team. The successful applicant will work across both conventional removable prosthodontics and modern digital dental technology, including CAD design and 3D printing.
Key responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, fabrication, modification, repair and finishing of dental prostheses and appliances.
Duties will include
- Fabricating and finishing complete and partial removable dentures.
- Setting and arranging denture teeth and completing acrylic processing and finishing.
- Repairing, adjusting and modifying removable prostheses.
- Interpreting dental prescriptions, impressions, intraoral scans and laboratory instructions.
- Assessing cases and communicating with dentists regarding technical requirements and treatment objectives.
- Designing dental appliances and prostheses using CAD/CAM software.
- Preparing digital files for manufacturing through 3D printing and other digital workflows.
- Operating and maintaining dental 3D printers and associated laboratory equipment.
- Processing, finishing and quality-checking 3D-printed dental appliances and components.
- Integrating conventional laboratory techniques with digital dental workflows.
- Checking completed work for accuracy, fit, function, aesthetics and quality before delivery.
- Identifying technical issues and discussing appropriate solutions with the treating dentist.
- Completing adjustments and modifications where required.
- Maintaining accurate laboratory records and following established practice procedures.
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe laboratory workspace.
- Following relevant infection-control, workplace-health-and-safety and dental laboratory procedures.
- Working collaboratively with dentists, dental assistants, reception staff and other members of the practice team.
- Participating in ongoing improvement of laboratory processes and digital workflows.
About you We are seeking a Dental Technician who can demonstrate:
- Relevant qualifications in Dental Technology and/or substantial relevant professional experience.
- Practical experience in removable prosthodontics, including complete and partial dentures.
- Demonstrated experience with CAD/CAM dental design.
- Practical experience with 3D printing and digital dental workflows.
- Strong attention to detail and a high standard of technical workmanship.
- The ability to accurately interpret prescriptions, impressions, scans and technical instructions.
- Good manual dexterity and an ability to produce precise work consistently.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team.
- A professional and reliable approach to work.
- A willingness to learn new techniques and technologies.
