Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Lead the establishment and delivery of a contemporary Finance Business Partnering function that develops trusted relationships across the organisation and provides a proactive, customer-focused finance service aligned to business priorities.
- Provide strategic financial and budget advice to support executive decision-making, including financial sustainability, investment priorities, affordability, risks and emerging pressures.
- Lead evidence-based costing and resource allocation, using activity-based costing, financial modelling, data and performance insights to inform prioritisation and direct resources to areas of greatest value and impact.
- Partner with executives and senior leaders to understand business priorities, challenge assumptions, identity opportunities and translate complex financial information into clear, actionable advice.
- Lead and develop a high-performing finance partnering team, building capability fostering collaboration and establishing consistent approaches to financial management across the organisation
- Drive continuous improvement in financial management and business partnering, strengthening financial insight, planning, performance and the use of data to support better decisions.
- Partner on organisation reform, transformation and major programs, providing business case advice and resource insights to support successful implementation and sustainable outcomes.
The occupant of the position:
- Demonstrated senior leadership capability in establishing and leading a Finance Business Partnering or similar strategic finance function within a complex organisation.
- Proven experience engaging and influencing senior executives and stakeholders, with the ability to build trusted relationships and communicate complex financial information clearly and persuasively.
- Solid leadership capability in building, developing and managing high-performing teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to drive improvements in financial management practices, systems and processes, with a focus on enhancing insight, efficiency and decision support.
- Demonstrates a positive and contemporary attitude to people with disability.
- Leads and manages staff with a focus on safety, wellbeing, and high performance.
It is a mandatory requirement for the occupant of the position to have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or Commerce
- Completed professional qualifications, or in progress to complete (CPA/CA)
It is desirable for the occupant of the position to have:
- Experience in Commonwealth Government and in particular delivering corporate/ enabling services within a Commonwealth entity would be highly regarded.
- Strong financial systems knowledge and experience (TM1 IBM Planning Analytics, SAP or similar ERP systems).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and Power BI skills.
