This is where you play an important role.

The Director, Program Management Office (PMO) leads the division's program and project management capability, ensuring effective governance, assurance, reporting and delivery oversight across multiple complex digital transformation programs. The role provides strategic leadership of divisional governance arrangements, performance reporting, investment assurance, integrated scheduling, planning, risk and advantages realisation activities. Working closely with senior executives, program leaders and delivery teams, the Director ensures initiatives are aligned to departmental priorities,



supported by fit-for-purpose governance and focused on delivering measurable outcomes for the department, industry and government.

The role is responsible for driving consistent, disciplined and transparent governance practices, supporting executive decision-making and ensuring investment outcomes are realised.

The duties of the role may include some or all of the following:

- Lead strategic oversight and management of the division’s digital investments, ensuring alignment with departmental priorities, government expectations and intended business outcomes.
- Establish and continuously improve program and project management frameworks, methodologies, governance arrangements and reporting practices that support effective delivery across the division.
- Provide clear and timely advice to senior executives on program performance, progress against integrated schedules, delivery confidence, resource allocation, investment priorities, emerging risks and strategic opportunities.
- Drive effective governance, assurance and accountability across the division's programs and projects, ensuring compliance with departmental and whole-of-government governance and assurance requirements.
- Lead program-level prioritisation activities with business areas, ensure proper sequencing and dependency management activities occur across multiple product teams so that delivery roadmaps can be achieved.
- Oversee and guide assurance activities including gateway reviews, delivery confidence assessments, assurance reviews and executive responses to recommendations.
- Ensure robust management of risks, issues, dependencies and constraints that may impact delivery, investment performance or customer outcomes.
- Lead the development of high-quality executive reporting, performance insights and intelligence to support evidence-based decision-making.
- Drive benefits realisation practices across the programs, ensuring investments deliver measurable outcomes and value for the department and industry.
- Build organisational capability and maturity in program and project management through coaching, mentoring, professional development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead and develop a high-performing multidisciplinary team that delivers trusted advice,



high-quality services and strong outcomes for stakeholders.

We are seeking a highly experienced and influential leader with demonstrated success leading complex program, project management and enterprise governance functions within large public sector organisations. You will be recognised for your ability to provide trusted strategic advice, drive delivery performance and build the capability of your team. You will bring extensive experience in governance, assurance, risk management, integrated scheduling and benefits realisation, coupled with a commitment to delivery excellence and continuous improvement.

You will thrive in complex and quick-paced environments, build productive relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders, and lead a high-performing team that delivers value and measurable outcomes.

Knowledge and experience

- Demonstrated experience leading complex program or project management functions in large and dynamic public sector organisations.
- Extensive experience establishing and operating enterprise governance, assurance, performance reporting and investment oversight frameworks.
- Significant experience in program and project management methodologies in the public sector, including a detailed understanding of the Digital Transformation Agency’s Digital and ICT Investment Oversight Framework.
- Experience overseeing multiple concurrent programs, competing priorities and diverse stakeholder groups.
- Demonstrated experience leading organisational capability uplift, PMO maturity initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
- Strong understanding of public sector governance, resource management, accountability and decision-making processes.
