What we do The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Division is part of the Technology and Digital Programs (TDP) Group. The division provides the architectural, innovation, assurance, technology and workforce plans that underpin whole-of-government ICT capabilities. We empower TDP's workforce to create secure and easy digital government services that Australians trust.

The CTO Division brings together strategic technology leadership, governance, assurance and workforce capability to support the delivery of secure, reliable and resilient digital services. Working across a large and complex ICT environment, the division partners with business and technical stakeholders to strengthen organisational capability, manage risk and support the continuity of critical services that Australians rely on every day.

Directors – Risk Management and Business Continuity lead the strategic management and continuous improvement of risk management, business continuity and organisational resilience across Technology and Digital Programs (TDP).





The role provides strategic leadership and advice on enterprise risks, control effectiveness, resilience, preparedness and continuity capability. Directors work with senior stakeholders to ensure critical business services, processes and supporting systems are appropriately protected and recoverable during disruptions.

Operating with a high level of autonomy, the role leads governance, assurance, reporting and improvement activities and drives a proactive risk and resilience culture across complex business and ICT environments.

- Lead the strategic direction, implementation and continuous improvement of risk management and business continuity practices across TDP.
- Oversee enterprise risk assessments, Business Impact Analysis activities and continuity planning to ensure critical business processes, ICT systems and dependencies are understood and managed.
- Lead the development, assurance and ongoing improvement of risk management and business continuity frameworks, policies and governance arrangements.
- Establish and oversee business continuity exercising, testing and preparedness activities to strengthen organisational resilience and recovery capability.
- Provide strategic advice to executives and governance forums on enterprise risks, control effectiveness, risk appetite, resilience, preparedness and continuity capability.
- Drive integrated risk and business continuity reporting,



assurance activities and executive decision-making support.
- Build and influence senior stakeholder relationships across business, ICT, risk and service continuity functions to achieve organisational outcomes.
- Lead and develop a high-performing workforce by providing strategic direction, fostering an inclusive and accountable culture, and building organisational capability through coaching, mentoring, workforce planning and effective people management.

Security Clearance level required: Baseline (or ability to obtain and maintain).

In accordance with section 22(6) of the Public Service Act 1999, Services Australia requires applicants to be Australian citizens to be eligible for employment with Services Australia.

An applicant’s suitability for employment with the agency will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. This process includes but is not limited to a national police history check, referee checks, code of conduct check and an employment history integrity check.

Some positions within Services Australia may be required to work in settings where mandatory vaccinations are required. Staff in such positions will need to demonstrate that they meet the vaccination requirements or have a relevant exemption.
