Position Details

- Position: Disability Support Worker – Community Access
- Location: Marangaroo
- Schedule: Monday, Thursday and Friday, 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM

About the Role We are seeking a caring and confident support worker to provide community access support for a participant in Marangaroo. A female support worker is preferred by the participant for this role. You will accompany the participant on community outings, support positive engagement with the local community, and provide calm, person-centred support, including help managing emotional distress when it arises.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide one-on-one community access support during scheduled shifts
- Drive the participant to and from community activities and appointments
- Support the participant to engage safely and positively in community settings
- Use redirection and de-escalation techniques when challenging behaviours arise
- Recognise and respond calmly and appropriately to emotional distress
- Maintain participant safety and wellbeing at all times
- Communicate clearly, respectfully, and in a non-confrontational manner
- Report any incidents or concerns in line with organisational policy

Requirements
- Female support worker preferred by the participant (genuine occupational requirement)




- Valid driver's licence and confident, safe driver
- Proven experience in community access or disability support work
- Demonstrated ability to manage challenging situations calmly and confidently
- Solid emotional behaviour management, redirection and de-escalation skills
- Clear, reassuring, and non-confrontational communication style
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused approach to support work

Note: The requirement for a female support worker is based on the genuine preference and support needs of the participant, and is lawful under the genuine occupational requirement exemptions of the Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth) and corresponding state/territory equal opportunity legislation.

Mandatory Requirements

- Relevant qualification in Disability, Community Services, or a related field
- Current First Aid/CPR certificate
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Willingness to provide any other mandatory documents.

Job Type: Casual Pay: $34.00 – $39.00 per hour
