We are an established Australian business preparing to expand an important new premium/luxury retail e-commerce operation.
We are looking for a capable, energetic person to take ownership of an existing e-commerce project, complete the website, build the online product offering and get it trading successfully, with a particular focus on the important pre-Christmas period.
This is a hands-on role requiring regular work in our Melbourne CBD office, as working directly with physical stock is an important part of the position. Once established, there is flexibility for appropriate website, content and administrative work to be completed remotely.
The Role
You will take an existing e-commerce project from its current near-launch stage through to active trading and ongoing development.
Responsibilities include
- Completing and refining the existing e-commerce website
- Improving page layout, navigation and product presentation
- Selecting and organising physical stock for online sale
- Adding products, images, descriptions and pricing
- Creating and maintaining product categories and collections
- Coordinating product photography
- Identifying older and under-utilised inventory suitable for online sale
- Developing promotions and featured product selections
- Creating and coordinating social media content
- Helping establish and maintain an effective social media presence
- Monitoring sales and continually improving the online offering
- Working closely with the business owner and an experienced internal team
The business operates on Odoo 19. Previous Odoo experience would be valuable but is not essential. Experience with Shopify, WooCommerce or other e-commerce platforms is highly relevant.
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has practical e-commerce or online retail experience
- Is highly organised and able to manage a project independently
- Has valuable visual judgement and strong attention to detail
- Is comfortable working directly with physical products and inventory
- Can learn new software quickly
- Understands online merchandising and premium product presentation
- Has experience with product photography or coordinating photography
- Has experience with Instagram and social media for business
- Can establish priorities and get things finished without constant supervision
Experience working with luxury, premium, design-led or visually driven products would be highly regarded. Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who can take ownership of the project and drive it forward, rather than simply wait to be given individual tasks.
The Position
Employment: Casual
Days: Approximately 3–4 days per week initially
Location: Melbourne CBD
Work arrangement: Primarily onsite, with flexibility for appropriate work to be completed remotely
Start: As soon as possible
Pay: Competitive hourly rate based on experience The position is initially expected to focus on getting the e-commerce operation fully established through the pre-Christmas and Christmas trading period.
As a casual position, hours will depend on business requirements. For the right person, there is potential for the role to continue and develop beyond the initial project period.
To Apply
Please provide a brief introduction outlining your relevant experience and examples of e-commerce stores, websites or social media projects you have personally worked on.
We would particularly like to know:
- What you were personally responsible for
- What you achieved
- Which e-commerce platforms you have used
- How independently you managed the work
Immediate availability would be an advantage.
