About Us: The Law Institute of Victoria (LIV) is the state's peak body for lawyers. Representing more than 22,000 members the LIV's purpose is to foster the rule of law and to promote improvements and developments in the law as it affects the public of Victoria. The LIV is a non-profit organisation dedicated to its members and the development, maintenance and the sustenance of the law for the benefit of the community.
About the role
The Emerging Lawyers Section Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the engagement, development and growth of the LIV's Emerging Lawyers Section, which supports law students, graduates, PLT students and early career lawyers across Victoria. Working closely with the Emerging Lawyers Section Manager, volunteer committees and key industry stakeholders, you will help deliver governance activities, events, programs and initiatives that foster professional development, networking and connection across the legal profession.
Key responsibilities will include
- Coordinate governance and administrative activities for the Emerging Lawyers Section, supporting volunteer leaders and committees to achieve key objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the legal profession, including universities, law student societies, PLT providers and employer partners.
- Support the delivery of member engagement initiatives, career development programs and networking opportunities for emerging lawyers.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of flagship events, publications and programs that support lawyers from law school through to early practice.
- Coordinate communications and engagement activities, including newsletters,
member enquiries and promotional initiatives.
- Foster connections with future members by engaging with students, graduates and early career lawyers at industry and career-related events.
- Support key profession-wide initiatives, including the LIV Clerkship & Graduate Recruitment Guidelines and PLT engagement activities.
- Work collaboratively across the LIV to support strategic membership growth, retention and engagement objectives.

- Knowledge of membership organisations and member engagement strategies.
- An interest in the legal profession and supporting the development of emerging lawyers.
