Senior Engineering Manager required by a Top Tier Mining Company for a multi-billion dollar project

This company is a leading global resources organisation. This large-scale project will play a critical role in supporting future production growth and includes mine development, materials handling infrastructure, rail networks, autonomous mining systems, utilities, accommodation villages, and associated operational infrastructure.

Offering the scale of a greenfield development combined with the complexity of an integrated mining and infrastructure project, this is a rare opportunity to influence major engineering decisions from early studies through to execution and operational readiness.

Your new role

You will take ownership of the project's engineering strategy, ensuring engineering standards, governance frameworks, and delivery models support safe, practical, and commercially effective outcomes.

Key responsibilities will include

- Developing and leading the engineering strategy, standards, and delivery framework for the project.
- Managing engineering inputs across scope, schedule, cost, value, and risk.
- Leading strategic trade-off studies to optimise technical solutions, execution models, operability, and whole-of-life value.
- Evaluating alternative delivery models and market solutions, including EPCM, EPC, OEM, and specialist supplier partnerships.
- Providing leadership to engineering consultants and delivery partners, ensuring quality, performance, and schedule commitments are achieved.
- Driving engineering integration throughout studies, business case development, execution planning, commissioning, and operational handover.
- Partnering with construction, procurement, commercial, operations,



and project controls teams to develop executable delivery strategies.
- Building and leading a high-performing engineering team focused on accountability, safety, and project delivery excellence.

What you'll need to succeed

- A degree qualification in Engineering.
- Significant experience leading major projects, ideally valued in excess of $2 billion.
- A strong background across large-scale mining, resource, infrastructure, rail, materials handling, or processing developments.
- Proven success leading engineering studies, strategic trade-off decisions, and front-end project development activities.
- Experience working with EPCM contractors, EPC contractors, engineering consultancies, OEMs, and major suppliers.
- Strong commercial acumen across contracts, procurement, project controls, risk management, and value optimisation.
- Demonstrated capability supporting projects from concept and study phases through execution readiness, construction, and commissioning.
- Outstanding stakeholder engagement and leadership skills, with the ability to influence outcomes across technical, operational, and commercial functions.
- A practical, delivery-focused leadership style with a commitment to engineering excellence.
