West Perth
We're the Perth office of a wider software company – eight developers and a digital marketer,
working day-to-day with colleagues across Europe and Asia.
Someone has to keep that running. The scheduling, the follow-ups, the office itself. The person who did it has left for maternity leave, and we need someone to hold it together until she's back.
What you'd actually do
Keep the threads together. Scheduling, chasing, following up – making sure a decision made here on Tuesday has reached everyone by Thursday.
Get things done without being able to insist. You won't have authority over anyone you're chasing. You can follow up with someone senior, overseas, for the third time, and have them still be glad to hear from you.
Run the Perth office. Vendors, quotes, building access, new starter setup, keeping the kitchen stocked, the thing that broke this morning.
Be around for the team. Nine people, heads-down, headphones on. You'll know what everyone's working on by week two, and you'll notice when someone's been stuck all morning.
No clients, no front desk, no HR remit.
What we're actually looking for
You don't need to have done this exact job before. If you've run a venue, coordinated events, managed a busy roster, or held a student society together, you already know most of this. We care about how you'd handle the day, not the job titles behind you.
- Comfortable on a call with three or four countries on it, sounding like yourself on camera.
How you chase a deadline in one country isn't how you chase it in another – you pick that up without making a thing of it.
- You write clearly. A good chunk of this job is a well-written message that means nobody has
to be awake at an odd hour.
- Structured but not rigid. You like a clean spreadsheet, and you stay calm when the plan
changes at 4pm.
- Easy to be around. You start the conversation rather than wait for it.
The hours Our day runs later than most – most of the team is still going at six, because our afternoon is the morning for the people we work with overseas. That overlap is when the coordination happens; the rest runs on clear written handovers.
We'd rather see you often than see you for long, so four shorter days is our preference –
something like 11.30 to 5.30. Three longer days can work if that suits you better. No early starts, no overnight calls, no 6am standups. If you need to be done by 3pm, this one isn't for you.
The money
$40–47/hr + super, depending on experience. That's $80,000–$90,000 full time equivalent,
paid pro-rata across whatever pattern of days we settle on.
How to apply
We read everything, and we hire on how you'd handle the actual day. Hit Apply with your CV –
a couple of paragraphs about yourself is plenty for a cover letter, and we'd rather have your own words than a formal one.
First interview is a short video call. Much like the job.
Pay: $41.00 – $47.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24.0 – 28.0 per week
Benefits
- Free drinks
Application Question(s):
- You need something from a colleague overseas by Friday. They've missed it
twice, and they don't report to you. What's your next message?
- What's the last thing you organised that people actually enjoyed?
- Are you available to start within 3 weeks and commit to a 6-month
contract through late March?
