Summary

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our Reliability (Renewals) Team, supporting the delivery of water and sewer infrastructure renewal projects across Melbourne. Working closely with our Project Engineers, Project Managers and field delivery teams, you will be responsible for developing accurate and commercially robust project estimates, including quantity take-offs, labour and plant build-ups, material pricing, subcontractor quotations and project-specific risk allowances.

This is a delivery-focused estimating role, with opportunities to participate in site investigations, constructability and methodology reviews, and project handovers. A key focus will be comparing estimated versus actual project performance to continually improve our rates, productivity assumptions and estimating accuracy across the program.

The role would suit someone with civil construction or utilities estimating experience who enjoys working collaboratively with delivery teams and using real project outcomes to drive continuous improvement.

About the Role

As an Estimator within the Reliability (Renewals) Team you will support the planning and delivery of water and sewer renewal projects by preparing accurate and commercially robust project estimates.

Key responsibilities will include

Reviewing project scopes and drawings

Completing quantity take-offs and cost build-ups

Obtaining supplier and subcontractor pricing

Assessing construction methodologies and project risks

Preparing estimates for review and approval.

Working closely with Project Engineers, Supervisors and Project Managers

Participating in site investigations and constructability reviews to ensure estimates reflect real delivery conditions.

Reviewing estimated versus actual project costs and productivity to continually improve estimating rates, benchmarks and accuracy To be successful you will have:A relevant construction-related degree (Eg Engineering, Construction management)



or demonstrated estimating and/or civil construction experiencePrevious estimating experience within civil construction, utilities, water infrastructure or a similar project environment Sound understanding of civil construction methodologies, productivity and key cost drivers

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and scopes of work

Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint;Experience using Expert Estimation or similar estimating software (desirable)Strong analytical and commercial capability, with strong attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to manage multiple estimates and competing deadlinesCurrent Victorian Driver LicenceConstruction Industry Induction Card (White Card), or willingness to obtainWater and sewer infrastructure experience (highly desirable), with experience in lump sum estimating and schedule of rates pricing also advantageous
