The temporary employment register is open for candidates to register a general expression of interest for employment with the Department of Social Services (DSS) by completing an online application and uploading a current resume.
The register will be utilised to access skilled candidates to fill roles at short notice across the department.
The primary focus of Executive Assistants at all classifications is to provide high-level support by undertaking moderately complex administrative activities and tasks for Senior Executive staff such as:
- management of the Executive’s diary, phone, in-tray and email
- preparation of routine correspondence, briefs and coordination papers
- providing travel, accommodation and financial acquittal services
- coordination of administrative tasks such as stationery orders, phone lists, property and accommodation related requests
- continuous improvement of the Senior Executive’s office performance through the use of efficient and practical administration processes and systems
- management of regular branch-wide internal reporting and meetings
- assigning and collating briefs such as senate estimates briefs and coordinating document management via the Parliamentary Document Management System (PDMS)
- providing secretariat duties for meetings
- working collaboratively with other Executive Assistants/Executive Officers and the broader business area
- ad-hoc tasks as required.
The Executive Assistant role is best suited to candidates who are customer focused, enjoy dealing with people, and are positive at managing multiple tasks and solving problems.
