About the Role The Magistrates' Court of Victoria is seeking an accomplished executive to join its leadership team as Executive Director, Court Operations - Regional & Melbourne Magistrates' Court (MMC).

This is a significant leadership opportunity to oversee court operations across regional Victoria and the Melbourne Magistrates' Court portfolio, ensuring Victorians can access timely, effective and high-quality justice services. Court Operations is a large and geographically dispersed division responsible for the delivery of registry, courtroom and court support services across 51 court locations.

Working in partnership with a second Executive Director, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for a substantial statewide portfolio, driving service excellence, operational performance, innovation and continuous improvement. You will also have responsibility for key statewide functions, including leadership of the Statewide Listings and Allocations Coordinator and Principal Advisor, Court Operations.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, Magistrates' Court you will be a member of the Senior Executive Group and work closely with the Chief Magistrate, Judicial Officers, executive colleagues and key justice sector stakeholders to support the effective administration of justice.

Key Responsibilities

- Providing strategic leadership for court operations,



registry services and court support functions across your portfolio.
- Ensuring the effective delivery of pre-court, on-day and post-hearing services that support the hearing and determination of matters.
- Leading and developing large, geographically dispersed teams.
- Monitoring operational performance and implementing improvements that enhance service quality, efficiency and accessibility.
- Providing authoritative advice to the Chief Magistrate, Chief Executive Officer, judiciary and executive leadership team.
- Leading business continuity and emergency management responses to ensure ongoing access to court services during operational disruptions.
- Promoting a strong health, safety and wellbeing culture across the division.
- Building and maintaining productive relationships across the judiciary, government, service providers and community stakeholders.
- Representing the Court on strategic committees, forums and collaborative justice-sector initiatives.

About You

You are an experienced executive leader with a strong track record leading large and complex service delivery in operationally sensitive environments. You bring exceptional strategic, operational and people leadership skills, combined with a commitment to service excellence and continuous improvement.

- Significant senior leadership experience within an organisation of comparable scale and complexity.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management capabilities.
- Experience leading organisational change and service improvement initiatives.

- Strong analytical, conceptual and strategic thinking skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed practice, cultural safety and self-determination, including experience championing First Nations initiatives that strengthen inclusion and cultural safety.
- Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to provide advice at the highest levels.
- Strong governance, risk management and operational leadership capability.
