About The Role

As a Facility & Grounds Officer, you will support the day-to-day maintenance and presentation of the Penola Multi-Purpose Service, helping ensure the facility and surrounding grounds remain safe, functional and well maintained. Your duties will include general facility maintenance across the interior and exterior of the health unit, including minor repairs, painting, rubbish collection and basic carpentry, plumbing and mechanical tasks. You will also assist with grounds maintenance such as mowing, watering, raking, pruning and other general gardening activities.

Working as part of the Penola MPS team, you will also coordinate servicing and repairs to vehicles and equipment and assist with the operation of machinery and equipment as required.

About You

You are a practical and reliable team member who enjoys hands-on work and takes pride in maintaining safe and functional facilities and grounds. You communicate effectively with people from a range of backgrounds, can work under general direction and bring basic experience and knowledge relevant to building and grounds maintenance. To succeed in the Facility & Grounds Officer role, you will:

- Have experience in building and grounds maintenance, with the ability to use a wide range of hand and power tools.
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively within a team, meet deadlines and work across various settings with different levels of staff.
- Bring effective interpersonal, communication, written and numeracy skills, including the ability to relate to people from different cultures, backgrounds and circumstances.
- Have basic knowledge of safe working conditions, customer service principles and computer packages such as Microsoft Word and Excel.




- Hold a current driver’s licence and be willing to drive, and be flexible and willing to participate in a seven-day roster working varied hours and shifts across different settings.

Conditions of Employment

- A current National Police Certificate (NPC) for employment involving unsupervised contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position.
- A satisfactory NDIS Worker Screening Check is required.
- A current driver’s licence and willingness to drive is required.
- The position is primarily located at Penola MPS, however the incumbent may be required to work from other sites within LCLHN.

- You must be flexible and willing to participate in a seven-day roster working varied hours/shifts across different settings.
- Immunisation Risk for this position is – Category B.
- SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy
