Hours: 0.4 FTE

Contract: Fixed Term until 30/06/2027

About the Role: As a Peer Practitioner at Kids Hub, you will draw on your personal and collective lived experience of caring for someone experiencing mental health distress and recovery to engage meaningfully with children, young people and families accessing the Head to Health Kids Hub. You will use a strengths-based, recovery-oriented approach to provide support, hope, inspiration and empowerment,



while acting as a positive role model for recovery for people experiencing mental health challenges. Working collaboratively with Kids Hub staff and consortium partners, you will contribute to the delivery of person-centred care and support that values lived experience and promotes connection, understanding and recovery.

Through your role, you will help reduce stigma associated with mental health challenges, develop mutual and reciprocal relationships with people accessing the service, and create opportunities for clients, families and staff to benefit from the collective wisdom and insights gained through lived experience.

Experience Requirements:

- Demonstrated experience working effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working in a child-friendly healthcare, community, or educational setting.
- Demonstrated experience using lived experience of mental health challenges and recovery appropriately to support children and families.
- Experience working from a strengths-based and recovery-oriented approach.
- Experience engaging collaboratively and respectfully with children, young people and families to support their goals and wellbeing.

Qualification and Other Requirements:

- Current or willing to obtain a Working with Children's Check (WWCC)
- Current or willing to obtain a National Police Check (NPC)
- Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or equivalent or willingness to obtain
