Details: Join our Field Maintenance team and play a hands-on role in maintaining ACT Government properties and public assets across Canberra. Working primarily in the field, you will deliver programmed and reactive grounds maintenance, graffiti removal, installation and removal of flags and banners, and maintenance of fountains, memorials and other public assets.

Working under general direction, you will also liaise with customers, contractors and colleagues, coordinate and prioritise work, maintain accurate records and contribute to high-quality service delivery. You’ll have the opportunity to use your practical skills, initiative and teamwork to make a visible difference to Canberra’s public spaces.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

- Qualification/s in building trades or similar are highly desirable.
- Certificate/Tickets in Traffic Control, Working at Heights, Working in Confined Space, or the ability to obtain these are desirable.

This position requires:
- Workplace Health and Safety Induction (White Card) or a willingness to obtain – A ‘White Card’ and evidence of completion delivered by a Registered Training Organisation is required prior to commencement, for further information refer to: General Construction Induction Card - Access Canberra.
- Crystalline Silica (Silica Dust)



Exposure Prevention training or willingness to obtain – evidence of completion of training delivered by a Registered Training Organisation for Crystalline Silica Exposure Prevention is required prior to commencement, for further information refer to: Silica dust - WorkSafe ACT.
- Asbestos Awareness card or a willingness to obtain – Asbestos Awareness Training and evidence of completion delivered by a Registered Training Organisation is required prior to commencement, for further information refer to: Asbestos Awareness Training - WorkSafe ACT.
- Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to: Apply for or renew a WWVP registration - Access Canberra.
- Chainsaw licence, Chemcert and Graffiti removal.
- Hold or have the ability to obtain a medium rigid truck licence.
- Must hold C class drivers’ licence.

Notes: This is a temporary position available for a period of up to six months. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. This position is based in an activity-based working (ABW) environment. Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk. Applicants should note that a Joint Selection Committee (JSC) established in accordance with the collective/enterprise agreement provisions will assess all applications for this position.
