Fieldwork Manager – Soil Remediation Project

Helia EHS | Melbourne, VIC | Full-time

Helia EHS is an environmental consulting company based in Melbourne and Adelaide. We're looking for an experienced Fieldwork Manager to lead day-to-day site delivery on a major soil and hazardous materials remediation project in Altona.

The role

Reporting to the Helia Project Manager and Project Director, you'll be the on-site lead responsible for keeping a complex, multi-disciplinary remediation program running smoothly and on schedule. This role sits at the centre of how we live our values day to day: bringing our environment and hazmat field teams together as one cohesive crew (being Inclusive), liaising honestly and respectfully with clients, contractors and regulators (working with Integrity), finding practical solutions to the problems that come up in live field conditions (being Resourceful), and holding the project to a high standard of delivery against deadlines (exhibiting Excellence).

Key responsibilities

- Acting as the primary point of liaison with site stakeholders (client, principal contractor, regulators and other project parties)
- Managing our environment and hazardous materials (hazmat) field teams day to day
- Coordinating soil and hazardous materials sampling programs across the site and getting on the tools to collect the samples
- Working closely with the Project Manager and Project Director to ensure works meet project deadlines and quality requirements

About you We’re looking for someone who can bring the spark to our site works and energize the team to deliver outstanding solutions to our Client and the Project. You should have at least 4 years in an Environmental Consulting role, including soil and water sampling, with HAZMAT experience highly valued.

Experience managing similar demolition or contaminated land remediation projects is highly desirable. You'll be comfortable coordinating multiple field teams and contractors at once, and confident liaising directly with client and regulatory stakeholders.

What to expect

This is a demanding, hands-on role. Site hours are long, including Saturday work, reflecting the scale and pace of the project. Additional hours worked beyond ordinary hours are recognised through overtime pay or time off in lieu, in line with Helia's Overtime Policy, and rostering is managed with fatigue and rest in mind, consistent with Helia's Fatigue Management Policy. Remuneration is reviewed annually, with rewards to match your drive and delivery.

Why Helia

We live by our values, Inclusive, Integrity, Resourceful and Excellence, in how we treat our people and deliver for our clients. We foster a diverse and inclusive workplace, encourage the career development of our people, and support a healthy work-life balance alongside our employees' wellbeing.

- Helia is committed to equal opportunity in employment. We advertise our vacancies to reach a diverse applicant pool and select based on merit and ability to perform the role. We maintain a workplace free from discrimination on the basis of age, disability, gender identity, marital status, pregnancy, race, religion, sex, or sexual orientation.
