The Opportunity A large, privately owned Australian services organisation is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join the business on a 12–15 month fixed-term contract. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will take ownership of a broad finance remit across financial reporting, year-end, audit, treasury, controls and team leadership, while also having the chance to bring fresh ideas and external perspective to a business continuing to grow and evolve.

With approximately $1 billion in annual revenue, a national footprint and a highly stable finance team, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Controller who enjoys being both strategic and hands-on.

You will be responsible for:

- Leading monthly financial reporting and month-end processes.
- Coordinating year-end reporting and the external audit.
- Overseeing statutory and income tax compliance processes.
- Managing treasury, cash flow forecasting and banking relationships.
- Reviewing and strengthening financial controls and processes.
- Supporting commercial and credit reviews for new customers.
- Leading, reviewing and mentoring a developing accounting team.
- Supporting finance activities across a national branch network.
- Partnering closely with the CFO on broader finance and business matters.
- Contributing to ongoing systems, data and finance transformation.

hands-on role where you will remain close to the detail while operating as a senior member of the finance leadership team.

About you

You will be an experienced Financial Controller who can quickly establish credibility and take ownership of a complex finance function.

You will bring

- Proven Financial Controller experience within a medium-to-large organisation.
- Strong financial reporting, month-end and year-end capability.
- Experience managing external audit and statutory reporting.
- Treasury and cash flow management experience.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience within services, contracting, infrastructure, project-based would be advantageous.
