Money Over 50 Financial Advisers is looking for a university student to join our Townsville team in a paid casual internship.
This opportunity is not limited to financial planning or accounting students.
We are also very interested in students studying law, finance, business or another relevant degree who may be curious about financial planning as a possible career path.

THE ROLE
You will work alongside experienced financial advisers and paraplanners and gain practical exposure to the day-to-day operation of a financial planning business.
Your responsibilities may include
- Assisting with the preparation of client documents
- Updating client information and completing data entry
- Formatting reports, correspondence and other documents
- Assisting with general business and client administration projects
- Preparing for client meetings
- Greeting and interacting with clients
- Liaising with superannuation funds and other external providers
- Assisting with website, marketing and general business activities
- Other administrative tasks to support the team
As your knowledge and confidence develop, there may also be opportunities to assist with more technical financial planning and paraplanning-related work.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for someone who:
- Is currently studying law, finance, accounting, business, financial planning or another relevant degree
- Is reliable, organised and willing to learn
- Has strong attention to detail
- Communicates confidently and professionally
- Is comfortable interacting with clients
- Can work both independently and as part of a small team
- Has a basic understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Takes pride in their work
Previous financial planning experience is not required.
We are more interested in your attitude, reliability, communication skills and willingness to learn.
This role may particularly suit someone who enjoys their degree but is reconsidering whether the traditional career path associated with it is right for them.
HOURS AND PAY
- $35 per hour + superannuation
- Approximately 15–30 hours per week
- Casual position
- Based in Townsville
- Flexibility around university classes, exams and assessment periods
FUTURE OPPORTUNITY For the right person, there may be an prospect to continue with the business beyond the internship and transition into a permanent part-time Advice Assistant role.
