Leichhardt is an independent, Australian-owned solar salt project headquartered in Perth with operations in northern Western Australia. Our sites include the Lake MacLeod operations near Carnarvon and the Eramurra Project, 55km outside Karratha.

Lake MacLeod also produces approximately 1Mtpa of gypsum, predominantly exported to the Asia-Pacific region. Our gypsum operation includes excavation and water leaching to produce a plasterboard and cement grade product.

About the Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for abrasive blasting, surface preparation, industrial painting and protective coating activities across a range of plant, equipment and infrastructure. You will play an important role in preserving asset integrity, maintaining site standards and supporting the safe and efficient operation of the business.
This role is a residential role based in Carnarvon, WA, on a 6 days on, 6 days off roster.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform abrasive blasting, surface preparation, painting and protective coating activities to required specifications.
- Inspect surfaces, identify corrosion and defects, and complete appropriate preparation and repair work.
- Safely operate, maintain and clean blasting, painting and associated equipment.
- Conduct coating inspections and quality checks, including coating thickness testing where required.
- Maintain accurate work orders, inspection records and maintenance documentation.
- Comply with site safety, environmental, permit and isolation requirements.
- Work collaboratively with Maintenance and Operations teams to support planned, shutdown and corrective maintenance activities.
A full position description will be provided at the interview. What We Are Looking For To be considered for the role, you will have the following qualifications, skills, attributes and experience:
- Trade qualification in Surface Preparation and Coating Application (Painter Blaster) or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in abrasive blasting, industrial painting and protective coatings within mining, processing, industrial or construction environments.
- Sound knowledge of corrosion control, surface preparation techniques and industrial coating systems.
- Ability to inspect completed work, identify defects and maintain quality standards.
- Understanding of safe work practices, permits, isolations and hazardous substance handling.
- Strong communication, organisation and record-keeping skills.
- Current C Class Driver's Licence.
- Experience in domestic painting advantageous.
