The APS6 Fraud Investigator is responsible for conducting and supporting investigations into suspected fraud affecting Department of Social Services administered programs, grants, procurement activities and departmental functions.
The role applies investigation methodologies and evidentiary practices in accordance with the Australian Government Investigations Standard (AGIS), relevant legislation, departmental policies and the Commonwealth Fraud and Corruption Control Framework.
The position works under limited direction and contributes to protecting the integrity of DSS programs and public resources.
Occasional travel may be required.
- conduct investigations into suspected fraud and related matters
- gather, analyse and assess evidence in accordance with legislative and policy requirements
- prepare investigation plans, reports, briefs and recommendations
- undertake interviews and other investigation activities in accordance with AGIS
- maintain accurate records and ensure the appropriate handling of evidence and information
- contribute to fraud assessments, triage activities and case management processes
- collaborate with law enforcement agencies, service providers and internal stakeholders
- identify systemic issues and recommend fraud prevention and control improvements.
