About the role
We are seeking skilled Gear cutting Machinists with expertise in Gear cutting to join our manufacturing team at R&I; Instruments, part of the Hardman Group, a distinguished family-owned and operated business with a rich heritage spanning 70 years in precision engineering in CNC machining and gear cutting services.
Key responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC controlled and manual gear cutting machines proficiently, or demonstrate aptitude to learn how to do so.
- Execute precision machining of components and gears, ensuring adherence to tight tolerances down to sub 10 micron tolerances and stringent quality standards.
- Conduct thorough inspections of finished parts to verify compliance with specifications and quality requirements.
- Design and build of jigs and fixtures.
- Monitor machine operations, perform necessary adjustments, and conduct routine maintenance tasks to uphold optimal performance.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and uphold cleanliness and organization within the work environment.
About you
- Qualified tradesman in Engineering Cert III or higher
- Experience operating gear hobbing, gear shaping and gear grinding machines, Gleason and Klingelnberg CNC controlled gear cutting machines, along with an extensive range of manual gear cutting machines such as mechanical hobbing, shaping, broaching, and other general engineering
- Minimum 5 years of previous experience in CNC machining or Gear cutting
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and geometric tolerances pertinent to precision manufacturing
- Previous experience in dealing with AS9100 Aerospace and Defence quality requirements and ISO9001
- Sound knowledge of machining techniques, tooling, and cutting parameters specific to CNC setting and production
- Familiarity with a diverse range of inspection tools and measurement equipment utilized in precision manufacturing, including manual inspection using calibrated equipment such as Micrometres, Calliper, bore gauges
- Keen attention to detail and a steadfast commitment to delivering meticulously crafted components and gears
- Reference contact details of two past employers
- Must already have permanent work rights in Australia
