About the role

We're looking for reliable general labourers to join our onsite crew. This is a hands-on outdoor role assisting with earthworks and retaining-wall projects. Experience is useful. Attitude, reliability and willingness to learn matter way more.

Key responsibilities

- Hand excavation, shovelling and cleaning trenches
- Manually handling, and machine lifting retaining-wall posts (steel), sleepers (concrete, or wood) and drainage pipes (PVC) in to place.
- Moving, preparing and staging materials
- Backfilling, compacting and general site works and preparation
- Setting up and packing down jobs
- Using hand and power tools within your training
- Spotting and assisting mini-excavator operators, skid-steer and other plant & equipment.
- Keeping sites clean, organised and safe
- Following job plans, team lead instructions and safe-work processes
- Helping the crew deliver work that is level, aligned and properly finished

About you

- A current White Card
- A current driver's licence and reliable transport
- Are able to work safely on demanding outdoor work
- You are reliably and always on-time
- You find things that need to be done, or at least ask what can be done. Your simply don't have time to be on your phone as you're just too busy finding work to do onsite.
- You communicate with site leads, and teams mates. You look out for them.

- Caring for equipment matters to you, especially when its no yours or the clients.
- You finish the job you start.
- Experience in earthworks, landscaping, retaining walls, drainage or residential construction NOT required. Its a nice to have though.
- Better to have is being ready for a hard days work where you can work your way up with a growing company and busy industry.
- Excavator, skid-steer, truck or other relevant plant experience would be excellent. Willingness to learn (VOC) would be just as good (maybe).

About us Embark Earthworks is a locally owned earthworks contractor servicing Mt Barker and the Adelaide Hills. We specialise in residential earthworks, concrete and timber retaining walls. We also do work with stormwater drainage, yard levelling and site preparation. We're building a local crew that takes pride in practical work and leaving behind a finished result that looks right.
