About the role
At Donaldson we design and manufacture high-performance industrial air filtration systems under the brands of DCE, Torit, BOFA. Our dust collection systems keep manufacturing environments safe, clean, and compliant. We offer a fast-paced, collaborative environment where current engineers gain hands-on experience.
The ANZ Donaldson Industrial Air Filtration business unit is seeking a motivated entry-level Mechanical Engineer to join the team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between engineering design and physical assembly production. You will focus heavily on dust collection assembly workflows and cross-functional project collaboration.
Working under the mentorship of senior engineers, you will help review and implement ductwork, structural frameworks, and filtration housings, while coordinating directly with the assembly and project management team.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in designing mechanical components, assemblies, or systems using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks or equivalent)
- Adapt existing products to applications in meeting customer needs and provide work direction to CAD design staff or complete design work yourself
- Work with assembly plant to define bill of materials accurately and consistently
- Write technical reports, assembly instructions, and documentation
- Work directly with assembly technicians to troubleshoot production issues, improve build efficiency, and ensure design intent is met
- Collaborate with project managers,
sales teams, and clients to track engineering milestones and ensure technical specifications match project requirements
- Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs), assembly instructions, and technical maintenance manuals for custom client orders
- Assist with the physical testing, inspection, and commissioning of completed dust collection units prior to shipping
About you
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or closely related field
- Zero to two years of professional or internship experience
- Basic knowledge of CAD tools and engineering fundamentals
- Proficiency in 3D modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or AutoCAD)
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across manufacturing, engineering, and project management teams
- Sheet metal experience, structural fabrication, or fluid dynamics (airflow/ducting basics) are a plus
