Grounds and Maintenance Assistant (Temporary to cover leave)

The Grounds and Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for the overall maintenance and upkeep of Gaia’s grounds and landscaping on a daily basis in order to achieve and provide a clean, comfortable, presentable and positive guest experience.

Guest Experience –

- Always ensuring delivering a positive and seamless guest experience when interacting/engaging with guests on the grounds or rooms
- Ensure grounds are maintained for an elevated nature experience for our guests by completing the following
- Responsible for clearing all trash, weeds, brush and debris from the Gaia’s grounds.
- Responsible for weeding, mulching and tree trimming whenever necessary or as directed. (This will require the use of equipment such as sheers, blade saw and other gardening tools; and also, PPE.)
- Responsible for overall Pool maintenance including pump room machinery. Responsible for maintaining a clean, clear and presentable pool area which includes the organizing of pool chairs, tables as well as clearing of all trash and debris.
- Responsible for daily upkeep of the property buildings and grounds which includes removing, cleaning and replacement of trash bins.
- Responsible for the care, maintenance and inventory of all grounds keeping supplies used as part of the role and ensures they are safe and in valuable working conditions.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean, clear and presentable area which includes the organizing of lounge chairs, tables as well as clearing of all trash and debris.




- Sweeps or blows all roadside entrances, walkways and hotel back areas.
- Performs daily walk-thru of Gaia’s grounds and identifies, reports as well as addresses areas with immediate grounds keeping needs
- Ensure room and facilities maintenance is carried out in a timely manner for guest comfort and a positive stay

Day to Day Operations –

- Assist with priorities for the team with grounds and maintenance tasks.
- Organising and working with contractors on repairs.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as Guest Services, Restaurant, Spa etc. to ensure seamless operations and a positive guest experience

Other –

- Perform duties/tasks as needed to assist the team during peak periods, weather events and staff shortages.
- Perform reasonably directed duties as required by management in addition to the above to support the team/s and guest experience at Gaia.
- Follow and comply with all Gaia Policies and Procedures and live and breath the company values.
- Comply with all WHS regulations including policies, safe work methods, PPE, Safety Data Sheets etc.

Desired skills and experience
- At least 2 years of experience in a maintenance/grounds role
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, school holidays
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritise and deliver to agreed deadlines.
- Ability to work independently, with limited supervision.
- Experience with ride on mower, Chainsaws and Brush cutters essential.
