Art of Electrical is a Melbourne electrical contracting business - small enough that everyone knows everyone, big enough to keep good people busy, We've been doing this for over 2 decades.
We're now looking for someone to step up, take real ownership of how the day-to-day runs.
This isn't a corporate management role, and it isn't just a desk job. We need someone with real on-site experience who's coordinated people, materials and builders on residential jobs before, to help run the operational side of the business alongside our owner and our long-time leading hand
Reporting directly to the business owner, and working closely with the leading hand, you'll be responsible for coordinating and supporting the day-to-day delivery of residential electrical projects. That means reviewing plans and take-offs, planning labour, ordering material with suppliers, and liaising with builders on upcoming work.
Key responsibilities
Coordinate electricians and apprentices across multiple domestic projects
Plan labour requirements and schedule projects to maximize productivity and minimize downtime
Work closely with the owner, leading hand and team leaders to monitor progress and flag upcoming requirements
Read and interpret electrical plans, RCPs and construction documentation
Complete and review electrical take-offs
Cross-reference plans, specifications, builder documentation and purchase orders
Prepare accurate material orders and ensure materials are on-site when needed
Maintain robust relationships with electrical wholesalers and suppliers
Liaise with builders, site supervisors, clients and other trades
Monitor projects from start to finish, catching delays and shortages
Extensive Domestic Experience Required
You'll need substantial hands-on experience in domestic electrical work, and a comprehensive understanding of residential projects, including:
- Renovations and extensions
- Solar and battery installation ( starting to introduce )
- Working directly with builders and site supervisors
- Coordinating electricians and apprentices on site
- Resolving issues that come up during construction
About you
Victorian A-Grade Electrical License
Extensive domestic electrical experience
Strong knowledge of residential construction
Experience managing projects and supervising electricians and apprentices
Excellent plan-reading and take-off skills
Strong knowledge of electrical products and materials
Confidence liaising with builders, supervisors and clients
Strong organizational and forward-planning skills
Good problem-solving and decision-making instincts
