Up In Smoke Fire Services Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced, reliable and motivated Fire Technician to join our team in Port Hedland, Western Australia.
n
This is a full-time position working across a diverse range of fire protection equipment and systems throughout Port Hedland and the wider Pilbara region.
n
Duties may include:
n
n
- Inspection, testing, servicing and maintenance of fire protection equipment
n
- Portable fire extinguishers and fire blankets
n
- Fire hose reels and hydrant systems
n
- Emergency and exit lighting
n
- Fire detection and alarm systems
n
- Fire sprinkler systems
n
- Fire pumps and associated equipment
n
- Mobile plant fire suppression systems
n
- Underground fire service pipework, fault finding and repairs
n
- Repairs and replacement of underground fire mains and associated components
n
- Fault finding, repairs and rectification works
n
- Installation of fire protection equipment and systems
n
- Completion of service reports, asset registers and compliance documentation
n
- Working across commercial, industrial and mining‐related sites throughout the Pilbara
n
n
We are ideally looking for someone who is willing to relocate to Port Hedland and become a long‐term member of our team. Company‐provided donga accommodation is available for the successful applicant.
n
While a residential arrangement is preferred, we are also willing to consider FIFO arrangements for the right person.
n

Job Requirements
n
n
- Previous experience within the fire protection industry
n
- Experience inspecting, testing, servicing and maintaining fire protection equipment and systems
n
- Experience with underground fire services,
pipework repairs and fault finding would be highly regarded
n
- Relevant fire protection qualifications and/or licences
n
- A current Australian driver's licence
n
- The ability to work independently and as part of a small team
n
- Strong fault‐finding and problem‐solving skills
n
- Good written and verbal communication skills
n
- The ability to accurately complete service reports and compliance documentation
n
- A professional approach when dealing with clients
n
- A strong commitment to quality workmanship
n
- Good time management and organisational skills
n
- Reliability, punctuality and initiative
n
- A willingness to undertake additional training and qualifications where required
n
- The ability to work safely across commercial, industrial and mining environments
n

Not qualified or experienced in every area listed?

We are willing to provide additional training and qualifications for the right applicant. We are looking for someone with solid fire industry experience, a good work ethic and a willingness to learn and expand their capabilities.

Residential applicants willing to relocate to Port Hedland are preferred, with donga accommodation provided. FIFO arrangements may also be considered for the right applicant.

The successful applicant will ideally have previous experience within the fire protection industry and hold relevant fire protection qualifications.

Qualifications & Experience
n
Essential / Preferred:
n
n
- CPP20521 Certificate II in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing, or equivalent/superseded qualification and relevant industry experience
n
- Current Australian driver's licence
n
- Construction Industry White Card
n
- Previous experience inspecting, testing, servicing and maintaining fire protection equipment and systems
n
- Sound knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and fire protection servicing requirements
n
- Ability to accurately complete service reports, inspection records and compliance documentation
n
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
n
- Strong fault‐finding and problem‐solving skills
n
- Commitment to protected work practices and quality workmanship
n
n
Highly Regarded:
n
n
- CPP30821 Certificate III in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing, or equivalent
n
- CPC32820 Certificate III in Fire Protection (Fire Sprinkler Fitter), or equivalent trade qualification
n
- Experience with fire sprinkler systems
n
- Experience inspecting and testing fire pumpsets
n
- Experience with hydrant and hose reel systems, including flow and pressure testing
n
- Experience with emergency and exit lighting
n
- Experience with fire detection and alarm systems
n
- Experience with mobile plant/pre‐engineered fire suppression systems
n
- Experience with installation, servicing and repairs of fire suppression systems
n
- Experience with underground fire mains, underground pipework, fault finding and repairs
n
- Experience carrying out repairs and replacement of underground fire service components
n
- Experience with five‐yearly testing and other major fire system servicing
n
- Relevant High Risk Work Licences, EWP, Working at Heights, Confined Space or other site‐based qualifications
n
- Current First Aid/CPR
n
- Relevant electrical or plumbing licences where required for the work being undertaken
n

Applicants are not required to already hold every qualification or competency listed above.

Residential / FIFO

Our preference is for the successful applicant to relocate to Port Hedland and reside locally, with company‐provided donga accommodation available as part of the employment package.
n
However, we are also willing to consider a FIFO arrangement for the right applicant.
