Position Information

Kincumber High School is a coeducational, comprehensive secondary school proudly serving the communities of Kincumber, Avoca Beach, Copacabana and Pretty Beach on the Central Coast. Guided by our mission to achieve and excel, the school fosters a friendly, inclusive and supportive learning environment underpinned by strong wellbeing programs. In 2027, the school will have an enrolment of approximately 1,070 students, including 64 students across seven classes in the Student Support Unit. Students in the Support Unit are fully integrated into all aspects of school life and make a significant contribution to the inclusive culture and social fabric of our community. Kincumber High School is proud to have an Aboriginal enrolment of 65 students and is an active member of the Tjudibaring Aboriginal Education Consultative Group. The school is also a valued member of the Kincumba Learning Community, working collaboratively with our partner primary schools—Avoca Beach, Copacabana, Pretty Beach and Kincumber Public Schools—to provide a seamless educational journey and promote the value of public education for all students.

Selection Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

1. Approval to teach students and/or demonstrated successful experience with Behaviour Difficulties, Mild or Moderate Intellectual Disability, or Autism.
2. Demonstrated enthusiastic, proactive and strategic leadership,



with strong interpersonal and communication skills and the capacity to engage, inspire and empower staff, students, parents/carers and the wider school community to achieve positive outcomes for students.
3. Demonstrated ability to be a visible, approachable and responsive leader who builds effective teams, works collaboratively as a member of the executive team, and leads the implementation of strategic priorities to strengthen practice and drive continuous school improvement.
4. Proven capacity to build staff capability in the development, implementation and review of individualised learning, behaviour, wellbeing and transition plans, with a solid understanding of Life Skills curriculum and evidence-based practices for students with disability, while maintaining high expectations and promoting positive student outcomes.

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
