Few’s Mining Leadership & Maintenance Pty Ltd is looking for a mechanic to join the growing team located at the Harwood shipyard.

This position offers consistent hours, overtime opportunities and the chance to secure long-term work.

This role is located at Harwood Marine (Polaris Marine Dockyards) – part of the Polaris Marine Group – an industry leader with over 35 years of experience delivering expert marine solutions along Australia’s east coast. From building new vessels to maintaining the existing fleet, this is your opportunity to work on exciting projects that make a real impact in the marine industry.

What You’ll Be Doing:

- Building and maintaining vessels in the shipyard
- Maintenance of trade tools and equipment
- Working in confined spaces and at heights
- Working across a range of shipbuilding and repair projects
- Ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately and on schedule
- Communicating well with your team and project stakeholders





Key Responsibilities:

- Assisting boilermakers, the blast and paint team, and the slipway team
- Assisting in boat entry onto the slipway and launching off
- Work independently as needed
- Overhauling all valves associated with the ships
- Drive shaft alignment
- Engine work and servicing
- Maintenance and servicing of auxiliary equipment
- Moving materials and equipment
- Operating hand and power tools
- Site clean-up and maintaining safe work areas
- Assisting with mechanical installations, maintenance, and fabrication activities
- Additional labouring and support tasks as required

To Be Considered, You Will Need:

- A Trade Certificate (mechanic or fitter machinist)
- Previous experience as a heavy diesel mechanic in a mechanical, manufacturing, marine, civil, mining or construction environment
- Strong and positive work ethic, reliability and ability to meet deadlines
- Commitment to teamwork and safety
- Good communication skills and willingness to learn
- Car licence
- Forklift Licence
- Additional tickets such as EWP, Working at Heights, or Confined Space beneficial

Desirable Tickets:

- Confined Spaces ticket – or willingness to obtain
- HRWL (forklift, dogman, crane)
- Working at Heights
- EWP (Elevated Work Platform)
