HR Manager – Wingboy

Location: Sydney, NSW (Hybrid - home & venues, travel required) Employment Type: Full-Time

About Us

Wingboy is Sydney's home of big flavour, electric atmosphere, and friendly service. Since opening our doors in 2021, we've grown to five venues across Sydney; Haymarket, Randwick, Newtown, Parramatta and Penrith, with a team of around 100 people. We're looking for an experienced HR Manager to own our people function and keep Wingboy a great place to work.

About the Role

Reporting to our Operations Manager, you'll be the go-to person for all things people at Wingboy recruitment, onboarding, compliance, employee relations, and culture. You'll work closely with our management team across all five venues, splitting your time between home and on-site visits.

What You'll Do

- Manage recruitment, screening, and interviewing for all management positions (casual recruitment is handled in-venue)
- Own onboarding, induction, and training completion for all new starters via Tanda
- Run compliance checks - visas, working rights, RSA, food handling certificates, and pay rates
- Manage employee records and HR compliance systems, aligned to Fair Work, Awards, and WH&S;
- Coordinate probation and performance reviews, and support employee development plans
- Support managers with employee relations, performance management, and workplace investigations
- Manage leave requests and approvals with the venue management team
- Lead workforce planning and forecasting, and monitor turnover and recruitment trends
- Develop HR policies and drive engagement, including Employee of the Month and milestone recognition
- Be the go-to expert on Tanda; direct payroll queries to our accounting team (rostering and weekly payroll sit outside this role)

What You'll Bring

- 3–5+ years' experience in Human Resources or People & Culture, with hospitality industry experience required
- Hands-on experience applying Restaurant Industry Award pay rates and conditions required
- Strong understanding of Australian employment legislation, Fair Work, and up-to-date awards
- Proficiency with Tanda or similar HR/payroll systems
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong conflict resolution and employee relations capabilities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Calm, discreet, and professional when handling confidential matters
- Proactive, solutions-focused, with high attention to detail
- A supportive leader who fosters a positive workplace culture
- Full Australian work rights
- A driver's licence and access to a car is ideal, given regular travel between venues
- Availability for a hybrid working pattern, including flexible hours where required
