The Role

Key duties of APS 5 IMD Governance Support Officer:

- Conduct research and consultation to support uplift of the Intelligence Mission Data (IMD) enterprise governance framework and associated policies and fora.
- Support the coordination and development of Mission Data risk assessments to the Joint Force.
- Support collaboration with broad Defence stakeholders to provide inputs into assessments of Defence preparedness where it relates to Mission Data.
- Maintain currency of understanding of Defence capabilities, organisational structures and policy to enable effective collaboration, consultation, and coordination of IMD governance activities.
- Provide secretariat and coordination support for IMD governance fora.
- Provide administrative and coordination support to the team.

This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. About our Team

Modern Australian and allied platforms possess integrated mission systems, advanced on-board sensors and weapons that require high fidelity Intelligence Mission Data. Consequently, the operational capability of such platforms is becoming increasingly dependent on IMD holdings.



Insufficient IMD, whether deficient in quantity, fidelity or accuracy, results in diminished capabilities and sub-optimal warfighting performance.

A robust IMD Enterprise governance system ensures the IMD Enterprise is effective, effective and meets current and future demands. The IMD Governance Team prioritises requirements and delivers necessary coordination across the IMD Enterprise, informs strategic oversight and risk treatment, and aligns strategic goals with allies and across Defence.

This position will play a critical role in supporting the IMD Governance Lead in uplifting IMD enterprise governance and coordination efforts.

Our ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability to support development of robust, clear, and effective governance policy and process. Demonstrated ability to coordinate and facilitate governance fora and engage effectively with stakeholders and senior leaders would be an advantage.

Security Clearance:

Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at Negative Vetting Level 2.
