About the role

LL Tax & Accounting is seeking an accountant with around three years' public practice experience who is ready to take ownership of their own client portfolio. You'll manage compliance work end to end, build direct relationships with clients, and get exposure to more complex tax and advisory matters as you develop.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare financial statements and income tax returns for individuals, sole traders, partnerships, companies and trusts
- Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS and other periodic ATO obligations
- Assist with SMSF annual accounts, member statements and tax returns
- Handle Division 7A, trust distribution, franking and CGT calculations with appropriate review
- Manage your own client relationships, including queries, information requests and ATO correspondence
- Review bookkeeping and Xero files, and coach clients on getting their records right
- Support the director on advisory work such as structuring, property transactions and ESS matters
- Keep workflow, deadlines and lodgement programs up to date in Xero Practice Manager

About you

- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related discipline
- Minimum three years' experience in an Australian public practice firm




- Solid working knowledge of Australian income tax, GST, FBT and CGT for small business clients
- Confident with Xero, Xero Tax and Xero Practice Manager; BGL Simple Fund 360 experience is a plus
- Comfortable using ATO online services and dealing with the ATO directly
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple jobs and deadlines without close supervision
- Clear, professional communication with clients who don't speak accounting
