Join a values-led organisation where your curiosity, reliability and customer focus truly make a difference. If you're looking to build your career in IT and thrive in a supportive, hands-on environment, this is an opportunity to develop your technical capability while contributing to a team striving for excellence.
Why Join Us
Rural Affinity is a place where people are encouraged to learn, develop and bring forward ideas. Our IT team plays a vital role in keeping the business running smoothly — and as we continue to evolve, we invest deeply in our people through structured mentoring, hands-on exposure to a broad range of technologies, and opportunities to build a genuine career in technology.
You'll be supported by leaders who value initiative, empower thoughtful decision-making and create space for you to build your technical skills while making a real impact from day one.
The Opportunity
As a Junior Desktop Analyst, you will provide first-level technology support to Rural Affinity team members, playing an integral role in delivering a reliable and responsive IT experience across the business. Working under the guidance of the IT Operations Lead, you'll take ownership of routine requests, prepare and maintain end-user equipment, support meeting-room technology, and perform day-to-day administration across Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune and SharePoint.
This is a development-focused role, ideal for someone beginning or building their career in IT. You'll receive training, mentoring and practical experience to grow your technical knowledge, while contributing to Rural Affinity's vision of being "the obvious choice" for our people and partners. Clear communication, sound judgement and a willingness to learn will be central to your success.
What You'll Be Doing
- Acting as the first point of contact for IT enquiries, recording and progressing requests through the approved ticketing process.
- Investigating and resolving common first-level issues using documented procedures, and escalating recurring or unresolved issues to the IT Operations Lead.
- Supporting laptops, monitors, docking stations, printers, peripherals, approved software and basic network connectivity.
- Assisting users with Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint and other approved applications.
- Preparing, configuring and issuing devices to new employees, and coordinating equipment return, reassignment and secure disposal.
- Maintaining an accurate asset register and coordinating warranty claims and repairs.
- Creating, updating and disabling user accounts, and assigning approved licences, groups and permissions for onboarding, role changes and offboarding.
- Enrolling and supporting devices via Intune, deploying approved applications and updates, and troubleshooting common compliance issues.
- Creating and maintaining SharePoint sites using approved templates, and supporting common SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive issues.
- Maintaining Teams phone services and supporting meeting-room displays, cameras, microphones and booking resources.
- Following information-security, privacy and acceptable-use requirements, and promptly reporting suspected incidents, breaches or phishing.
- Maintaining accurate tickets, records and knowledge articles, and contributing to technology projects and improvement activities.
What You Bring
- Certificate III or IV, Diploma, or equivalent foundational IT knowledge and practical experience.
- Basic understanding of Windows computers and common workplace hardware and software.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint.
- Interest in developing skills in Entra ID, Intune and cloud device management.
- Logical problem-solving and the ability to follow documented procedures.
- Clear written and verbal communication and a customer-focused approach.
- Commitment to handling company information and access securely.
Recent graduates and candidates with relevant study, work placement, service-desk or personal technical experience are encouraged to apply. Previous junior service-desk experience, exposure to Entra ID, Intune or Windows Autopilot, and entry-level Microsoft, CompTIA or IT service-management certifications are highly regarded.
Who You Are
You are curious, enthusiastic and motivated to build a career in IT. You take responsibility for your work, use initiative while understanding the limits of your authority, and are comfortable asking questions and seeking guidance. You communicate technical information in clear, accessible language and pay close attention to detail when managing equipment and access. You welcome feedback, thrive on continuous learning and enjoy contributing to a positive, empowered team culture.
We invest in our people just as much as we ask them to invest in us, including:
- Paid parental leave to support you through life's big moments
- Support toward industry qualifications as you build your technical expertise
- Ergonomic workstations designed with your wellbeing in mind
- A genuinely dog-friendly office (yes, four-legged colleagues welcome)
If you're looking for a role where you can launch your IT career while contributing to the success of a energetic and values-based organisation, we'd love to hear from you.
To Infinite Horizons!
