Lead Designer – Façade | Revit & Façade Experience | Melbourne's Western Suburbs | Full Time & Permanent | $100K – $120K + Super (DoE) About The Role Our client is a specialist façade contractor delivering high-quality building envelope solutions across commercial, residential, mixed-use, education, healthcare, and landmark construction projects throughout Victoria.

With a strong pipeline of secured work and continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Lead Designer to join their technical design team.

This is a step-up prospect for an experienced Façade Designer, Revit Designer, Detailer, Draftsperson or BIM professional who is ready to take greater ownership of projects and operate at a senior level.

The successful candidate will be someone who knows their way around façade design, can work confidently with minimal supervision, and has the initiative to identify issues and develop solutions rather than simply waiting for instructions. You will work closely with the Design Manager, Project Managers, Engineers, manufacturing teams, clients, consultants and site teams to take façade packages from design through to fabrication and installation.

The Opportunity As the Lead Designer , you will take ownership of façade design and documentation across a range of projects, ensuring designs are accurate, coordinated, practical and ready for manufacture and installation.

This role requires more than strong Revit skills. We are looking for someone with genuine façade experience, sound technical judgement and the confidence to lead the design process. You will be expected to work on your own initiative, make informed design decisions, identify potential issues early and provide guidance to other members of the design team where required.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the design and documentation of façade and building envelope systems from concept through to fabrication and installation.
- Develop and maintain detailed 3D Revit models for façade projects.
- Produce high-quality shop drawings, fabrication drawings, installation drawings and detailed construction documentation.
- Develop detailed façade packages including cladding, glazing, curtain wall, window wall, louvres, screening and architectural façade systems.
- Take ownership of assigned design packages and manage them through the project lifecycle.
- Review architectural,



structural and engineering documentation and translate design intent into practical, buildable façade solutions.
- Identify clashes, discrepancies, design risks and constructability issues and proactively develop solutions.
- Coordinate design information with architects, builders, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, manufacturing teams and site personnel.
- Participate in design reviews, BIM coordination meetings and project coordination discussions.
- Liaise directly with project stakeholders to resolve technical and design issues.
- Ensure designs are coordinated, accurate and suitable for fabrication and installation.
- Generate schedules, quantities and material take-offs from models and drawings.
- Manage drawing revisions, documentation and drawing registers throughout projects.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior designers and drafting staff.
- Assist the Design Manager with design planning, workflows, standards and technical problem-solving.
- Work closely with manufacturing and installation teams to ensure designs are practical and efficient to deliver.
- Contribute to improving design processes, BIM standards and documentation quality.

About You We are looking for a designer who has progressed beyond simply producing drawings and is ready to take ownership and responsibility for the design outcome .

You Will Ideally Have

- Previous experience in a façade design, detailing, BIM modelling or technical design role.
- Strong industry experience within façades, curtain wall, glazing, cladding, architectural metalwork or building envelopes.
- Strong proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
- Proven experience producing detailed shop drawings, fabrication drawings and construction documentation.
- A strong understanding of façade construction methodologies and detailing principles.
- The ability to interpret architectural, structural and engineering documentation.
- Strong understanding of how façade systems are designed, fabricated and installed.
- Excellent technical problem-solving and attention to detail.




- The ability to work independently and confidently manage your own design packages.
- Strong initiative and the ability to make decisions without requiring constant direction.
- Confidence communicating with engineers, architects, builders, project managers, manufacturers and site teams.
- The ability to identify problems early and take ownership of finding practical solutions.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- A willingness to provide technical support and leadership to other designers.

Highly Regarded

- Strong experience with aluminium façade systems.
- Curtain wall and window wall detailing experience.
- Knowledge of glazing systems and façade engineering principles.
- Experience across commercial high-rise or complex construction projects.
- Experience working directly with fabrication or manufacturing teams.
- Understanding of Australian façade compliance requirements and relevant building codes.
- Previous experience in a senior or lead design capacity.
